I worked at Microsoft as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

You get to live in Seattle during the most beautiful months of the year. You get to exposure to a wide variety of business teams within Microsoft. The entire Microsoft intern experience is stellar, and it is very easy to quickly make friends with similar interests. The work is challenging, so you will push yourself to grow your skills. Also, the intern concert/experience is one of the coolest events that I have been to in my entire life.

    Cons

You can start to feel trapped inside of the Redmond/Microsoft bubble. Just make sure to get out and explore Seattle and the surrounding areas.

    Advice to Management

Find candidates with a genuine interest in living in the pacific northwest. While it is perfect and sunny during the summer, that is not the case the other nine months of the year.

I worked at Microsoft as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Seriously one of the most underrated places to work - Microsoft has a reputation for not being as prestigious amongst the tech companies, but wow, I really felt my work made an impact. Contrary to most other companies, interns directly work on shipped products. When you leave, your work will still be relevant and won't be buried under some stack never to seen again.

There's free gym membership, an awesome intern gift (SurfaceBooks this year!) and tons of interesting intern events/talks/etc.

    Cons

The culture of the company is kind of inconsistent - some teams are amazing while others are terrible. There's no free food.

I have been working at Microsoft as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Very well paid. Their summer intern project is very well organized. You can learn a lot of things here.

    Cons

It is in US, guys in other countries need a VISA. Even Microsoft can help you get the VISA, it is still a pain in the neck.

very good experience. I highly suggest other people to have a research internship here.

I worked at Microsoft as an intern

    Pros

    Very helpful teammates
Interesting and challenging projects for interns
Awesome internship program (events, parties, conferences, ...)

    Cons

It can take some time to get things done when working with different teams which is bad for a 12 weeks internship

    Advice to Management

Intern projects should be scoped to one or two teams at most otherwise a lot of time will be spent on communication which is not ideal for a short period internship.

I worked at Microsoft as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Work with some of the smartest people in the world, and have the resources and freedom to change the world. The culture is very academic, so this is like the largest research university in the country, with more budget for projects.

    Cons

Converting research into products is a difficult task at such a large company with so few products. The importance of new products means there is also considerable secrecy.

    Advice to Management

Keep hiring the best, and giving them the funds they need to execute. I'd love to see research interns get more involved with product as well (or at least start discussions of conversion from research to product).
