I worked at Microsoft as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Endless opportunities to talk with top researchers from their respective fields; strong research-driven intern project; great intern support team that organizes all kinds of fun activities; great post-internship support for publishing your work.

    Cons

Outlook is much less usable compared to Gmail (in my personal opinion).

    Advice to Management

Provide care for interns' mental health. It could be shocking for someone from an average university to suddenly be exposed to top researchers and top students from top universities. Peer pressure may cause undesired psychological effects.

I worked at Microsoft as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Had the best time of my life.
Best people and very nice benefits

    Cons

I did not dislike anything. Except the rain in Seattle. Can't do anything about that!

    Advice to Management

    KEEP ROCKING

I worked at Microsoft as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

The project that I worked on is being used by the team that I was on. The people were nice and very smart. They helped out a lot when it was need but did a good job of leaving us to our devices. Food was good.

    Cons

    Onboarding to the development process

I worked at Microsoft as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Wonderful company to work at, especially as an intern. My favorite part was how everyone is so energized and loves their work. The specific team I interned with was not the best fit, however, during the internship you can interview with other teams and I'll be returning with a group that's a better fit for me. Microsoft cares about employees in every way: salaries, 401Ks, vacations, free drinks. And they love their interns: housing stipends, well paid, signature event feat. mayor artist (Marronn 5/ Ellie Goulding) and free surfacebooks, and awesome events on campus. One of the coolest things Microsoft does as a company is their One Week hackathon which permits engineers a week to work and collaborate on any project they choose.

    Cons

Explore is offered as a learning opportunity - I was able to do a great deal of code/PM but felt one-on-one mentorship lacking. Other than that, it's an excellent experience.

    Advice to Management

CEO is super approachable and I love the Q&As - never change.

I worked at Microsoft as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

They treat you like gold. You get to meet so many people. Tons of responsibility. Seattle is amazing too.

    Cons

I have experienced no cons from my internships here. Even if you have a terrible time, other companies very much respect Microsoft on a resume. The only possible thing is that many employees there have worked at Microsoft for 20+ years and don't ever get exposed to other tech outside the Microsoft bubble.

    Advice to Management

Keep it up! I loved the intern tech talks too. Microsoft is headed in a great direction and you can definitely see that as an intern.

    Great learning curve
    Great atmosphere
Very good company to put on a CV
    Many opportunities within the company

    Cons

Long hours and very stressful The size of the different departments can sometimes make you feel like you are a number!

I worked at Microsoft as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

You get to live in Seattle during the most beautiful months of the year. You get to exposure to a wide variety of business teams within Microsoft. The entire Microsoft intern experience is stellar, and it is very easy to quickly make friends with similar interests. The work is challenging, so you will push yourself to grow your skills. Also, the intern concert/experience is one of the coolest events that I have been to in my entire life.

    Cons

You can start to feel trapped inside of the Redmond/Microsoft bubble. Just make sure to get out and explore Seattle and the surrounding areas.

    Advice to Management

Find candidates with a genuine interest in living in the pacific northwest. While it is perfect and sunny during the summer, that is not the case the other nine months of the year.

I worked at Microsoft as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Seriously one of the most underrated places to work - Microsoft has a reputation for not being as prestigious amongst the tech companies, but wow, I really felt my work made an impact. Contrary to most other companies, interns directly work on shipped products. When you leave, your work will still be relevant and won't be buried under some stack never to seen again.

There's free gym membership, an awesome intern gift (SurfaceBooks this year!) and tons of interesting intern events/talks/etc.

    Cons

The culture of the company is kind of inconsistent - some teams are amazing while others are terrible. There's no free food.

    Advice to Management
