I have been working at Microsoft full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Benefits + 401k.
    Great pay and compensation.
Growth mindset, easy to work your way up.
Dominant tech company, not going away soon.
    Innovative and unique company.

    Cons

Lack of structure and direction, things change so much.
Lots of push back from the higher-ups on projects. Generally, there's only a few people making decisions here.

    Advice to Management

We just need better structured guidelines on how things are done, and we need to hold people accountable for their actions.

I have been working at Microsoft as an intern

    Pros

There are many resources and people to turn to for help.

    Cons

My team wasn't the best, I felt hesitant to ask questions - and was basically discouraged - because my manager said that my mentors said I needed a lot of "handholding"

I have been working at Microsoft full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Intelligent people, fun jobs, great opportunities for learning, ability to move aroundA network and meet new people; Fun new technologies to learn from

    Cons

Very political particularly amongst men; could be a difficult place if you're not part of the gang, diversity and inclusion is a real issue and the men that don't include women appear to get away with it and have no problem

    Advice to Management

Stay true to diversity rather than just advertise and highlight, make or real and hold leaders at all levels accountable

    Pros

Great Benefits and health plan but got worse the longer I was there

    Cons

Every year Microsoft was taking away little by little bonuses and stock then the benefits went way up.

    Advice to Management

I worked at Microsoft as a contractor (More than 5 years)

    Pros

work life balance is manageable with expectations mostly realistic. Work is a challenge, yet rewarding both financially and professionally. Meals are good. Campus is lovely

    Cons

Priority to get things done fast means outsourcing wherever and whenever it seems cheaper and more efficient--despite diminished quality of work and a loss of efficiency in the long run.
