I have been working at Microsoft full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great way to develop skills, easy to move around the company to a team with a micro-culture that fits you, great benefits, brilliant minds, great work life balance, great benefits

    Cons

Some hold over from outdated corporate practices which are mainly getting better. Some of the buildings are outdated.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you are doing, but avoid old corporate stigmas. Invest in keeping campus up to date.

    Pros

    * Great culture and learning experience I have had so far in an internship
    * Learn directly from people at the forefront of technology (e.g. worked alongside a brilliant Partner Architect and only this motivated me even more)
    * Great career opportunities and prospects
    * Good benefits and SeaTac area is one of the greatest in summer with lots to do.

    Cons

    * Depending on the project, some extra work than regular hours might be required, but besides that nothing else to complain.

I worked at Microsoft as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

    - Given a chance to develop a Mobile App from scratch and host it in Microsoft store.
    - Good Remuneration
    - Perfect environment to work

    Cons

    - Since a summer Internship, there was pressure to complete the entire product within eight weeks and this disturbed a work-life balance a bit.

I worked at Microsoft as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

    1. Freedom to lead the research project independently (least micro management)
    2. Opportunity to learn a lot
    3. Networking with genius researchers and peers who are contributing to the cutting-edge research in your field
    4. One of the highest paid internships. Interns are treated very well.

    Cons

    1. Tremendous peer pressure (which might eventually help in working harder and getting a lot of work done during the 12 week internship).
    2. Very steep learning curve

    Advice to Management

The shuttle service from Intern accommodations (especially those who're put in hotels far from MSR) should be improved

I worked at Microsoft full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    1) They really took superb care of all the interns. Work load on them is as much as could be to a normal employee.
    2) Great intern events

    Cons

    1) No cons, whatsoever. Although, for some reason people believe that Microsoft is a place to retire. And you lose your skills after going there.

    Advice to Management

for some reason people believe that Microsoft is a place to retire. And you lose your skills after going there. They can try to change it.

    Pros

Interesting research areas with many top researchers in the field.
    Brilliant colleagues that collaborate.
    Beautiful location and nice campus.

    Cons

The weather can be difficult for some people, and traffic can be difficult. This is offset by the decent public transportation.

I have been working at Microsoft as an intern

    Pros

They go all out for their interns. Had a blast this summer, gained new friends and work experience.

    Cons

Less than 1% of all the interns are design interns. If MS is really investing in design, they should fully commit.

    Pros

Intern specific events, challenging and fulfilling project, good benefits and compensation, great team environment, and amazing campus

    Cons

Drinks are mostly soft drinks unlike other top tech companies where they provide smoothies and protein shakes.

    Advice to Management

Provide snack, fruit, and healthy drinks for the employees.

Incredible colleagues with great mentorship. You get the chance to work on real projects and build real things - plus there's a free trip to seattle!

    Cons

None. Had the perfect summer internship.

    Advice to Management

Expand the foundry program. It was an incredible experience.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook
    Disapproves of CEO

I worked at Microsoft as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Lots of horizontal movement, fantastic pay, company is on the upswing

    Cons

You will be a number in the company. HR tries its best to treat everyone as an individual, but there's hard policy involving headcount.

    Advice to Management

Too much is put on managers for handling interns, there's no defined "plan" for what an intern does
