I have been working at Microsoft as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Quick knowledge on how to create a sales proposal. Great exposure to the tech industry and good opportunities to network. Very fun, smart and energetic team.

    Cons

Quick burnout. Not much to learn after the first 8 months. No progression. The training program is not very strong.

    Advice to Management

Focus more on training. In order to retain employees longer, focus a little less on the numbers and more on the individual accomplishments of each person on the team.

I have been working at Microsoft as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

This team really thrives on self-starters and individuals who are eager to get their hands dirty. Management has an open door policy and are very accessible for any questions and concerns. You learn a ton of information about Microsoft and you are able to take on projects to further a skill-set you'd like to master. They offer tons of feedback and regularly schedule 1:1 meetings to checkin

    Cons

Sometimes it can feel like busy work since you are managing so many different assets at any given time. Also, the first month you are in training before you touch an asset and then the next two months you are in training again.

    Advice to Management

move away from contract model since so much time is invested into training, it seems like a waste to just have people for a year

I worked at Microsoft as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

Great company values. Environment is full of ambitious and motivated individuals. Management encourages staff to grow and utilize all skill sets. Team works strongly together and collaborates as much as possible.

    Cons

Overworked and underpaid. Expectations not so clear. Management is fixated on quantity not so much quality and does not realize the stress put onto the team. Leaders Ignore the fact that people are overworking to please but this is expected.

    Advice to Management

Acknowledge what is really happening and really truly understand the frustrations of the team. Work together to make the team better and don't undermine the hard work of individuals even if they don't take on multiple projects.

I worked at Microsoft part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

No pressure for commission sales. It's run by a team based effort with members of the sales force helping and education the customers on new and upcoming products.

    Cons

Retail market tends to limit the schedule flexibility that you would expect especially if you are working at school or have a second job at the moment. The hours start off early and end very late in the day as well.
