I worked at Microsoft (Less than a year)

    Pros

Have not worked there since the new CEO took over so I don't know how it has changed.
Could be good or bad depends on what has changed since the new CEO.

    Cons

No development of contract employees. My office was a storage closet for 6 months.
While I worked on some very complex routing protocols.

I have been working at Microsoft full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Base pay and benefits are good if you know how to negotiate. I feel in general the culture and company as a whole tries to do the right thing and act like a responsible tech company. I like the matching program where any of your donations are matched 100% up to a certain amount.

    Cons

What folks say about the political environment is generally true. It seems that getting things done can take longer than you think it should at a tech company. I am hopeful with Satya at the helm things will change for the better.

    Advice to Management

For middle and upper level managers I would say get a better pulse of what your IC's are thinking.

I have been working at Microsoft full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Microsoft provides great benefits, decent pay, and stability. It has always grown, and is trying to make the right decisions

    Cons

Microsoft is a huge company and has a lot of processes and muck that can slow things down. Speed and time to market can be slow.

    Advice to Management

Be an engineering company, not a sales company

I worked at Microsoft as a contractor (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Microsoft has given me the opportunity to widen my skills in plenty of different areas in the company. U are not always stuck doing the one thing.

    Cons

Not getting enough one on one time with your supervisors and management . They need more people asking more questions , that way there are less mistakes made.

    Advice to Management

    Need more pay rises
