I have been working at Microsoft full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

This is a place to exercise your growth mindset. The company values diversity in all senses, including thinking. Management embraces failures and victories at balance as everything is an opportunity to learn. If you have the grit to continuously improve yourself and your career, this is the place for you. If you have a fixed mindset maybe not.

    Cons

Lake most large organizations, it is difficult to navigate and know who is who.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you are doing. So far you have all my trust.

I worked at Microsoft as a contractor (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Give you lots of room to grow and learn new things on process , tools , Agile to Waterfall - with fast pace work items driving for results

    Cons

Can be at times too much work or not structured in the work depending on the group or team in. The big teams making money are best teams to be in, there are some smaller teams ( products, services) that are great but if your team does not make a lot money you can be in for some real challenges

    Advice to Management

Look at HP, Google - quit trying to make up your own processes that randomize work and #1 - all teams should be in Sync not doing there own thing l

I have been working at Microsoft part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Decent benefits package. Part time gets almost the same insurance options as full-time. Accured paid time off. Tuition reinburstment.
Basically if you're maybe in highschool or starting college this might be a decent job, otherwise I can't recommend it.

    Cons

Moving up in the company is not easy at all, espically when your manager favors hiring externally instead of promoting internally. There's huge problems with favoritism, and Store Managers work horribly under any type of stress. You're constantly reminded the retail stores aren't making the company any money, and that your employment is almost a gift. Yearly, the entire company structure changes and you're expected to immediately fit into their new mold. While there is zero commission, you're expected to sell like your job depends on it. People with absolutely no experience whom have just started with the company get promoted over people who have worked there for years since tenure isn't looked at for growth.
Work environment can be fun however a lot of times its extremely childish and ridiculous with constant cheering, clapping, yelling. If you go through their NSO program you'll know all about this. Most of the time you're treated like you're in kindergarden.
Bonus is based on sales and customer satisfaction survey. However, if your store isn't making huge business sales, your bonus will never amount to anything. Raises are yearly and the absolute most you can make is 4%. Most employees only get 2% raise. It's pretty horrible.

    Advice to Management

Relax. You're a manager. You get paid extremely well to not act like a child. Also, focus more on promoting internally of worrying about hiring brand new people for these positions.

    Pros

Great environment and great people. Well structured on-boarding, training, and career nurturing. Many opportunities to grow into higher level positions.

    Cons

Very fast paced environment. A great deal of information to constantly keep up with and retain to conduct your business.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work. Company is evolving into a better place and a strong second wind after years of stagnation.
