    Positive Outlook

I have been working at Mid-America Christian University part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Very supportive and nice people to work with. Very apt to answer questions and help in any way. Generous compensation for adjunct work.

    Cons

Growing so quickly can sometimes be a bit disheveled. I'm sure that will change as they grow from a very small traditional college to a larger college with a larger footprint.

I worked at Mid-America Christian University as a contractor (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Good quality people and opportunities to contribute to a good cause

    Cons

more dictatorial than collaborative and does not truly value employees--too easy to discard rather than take time to guide and develop

    Advice to Management

Value your employees and invest in them rather than just discard and replace with lower paid individuals who are not qualified to do job. Don't be retaliatory when someone disagrees with you or has a different view than you.

    Negative Outlook

I have been working at Mid-America Christian University part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Small community, easy going employees and parking is nice, not so overcrowded at times.

    Cons

Too many talk about budget cuts and firing employees to help with the budget and employers are not doing their proper jobs and there are complaints about workmanship.

    Advice to Management

Pay is very poor, especially to those who deserve to get a raise and not to those who only have Master's degrees.

    Pros

One of the few venues where you can include your faith in your teaching.

    Cons

Employs leadership that cares little for ethical and professional standards. More concerned with $$$$.

    Advice to Management

Care about what you are in the business to do - educate students. Hire leaders that are not ethically and professionally compromised.

    Negative Outlook

    I worked at Mid-America Christian University full-time

    Pros

    Good time off
    Decent insurance benefits
Matches up to 5% of employee retirement contribution
    The students are awesome

    Cons

    Poor salary
    Little opportunity for advancement
    Completely incompetent management/executives
No empathy from management, just a "get it done" mentality.
Christian in title but not in the way employees are treated.
    No employee development whatsoever
Admin is full of favoritism, nepotism, and special treatment
Senior management does not care about hostile work enviroments for employees

    Advice to Management

Do the right thing rather than being motivated by personal gains and accolades. Live by the values you promote and value your employees. Lastly, the only reason the university hasn't been forced to close is due to commitment from low level employees. As middle and senior management you are running the institution into the ground. Please let go of your pride and make decisions that benefit the university, its students, and its employees instead of sacrificing your soul to be young and trendy.
