I worked at MidSouth Bancorp full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

When I was able to travel meeting new people

    Cons

limited career advancement. The people you work with have to be your best friend in order the advance and that could take years to do. Universal Bankers are TELLERS not BANKERS. You are going to spend all of your time as a teller. Training is horrible you are on your own. Benefits are expensive if your have one dependent ex. $250 per pay check you and one child.

    Advice to Management

Promote and recognize people for their talents and not because they are your friend.

Salary is great thank for me making good money but that all Midsouth have to offer period.

    Cons

Management is a joke. Policy and procedures apply to some not all. Management only interact with employees when they need your help. Tell Rusty Sr.CEO that his managers will close his business. That is a fact!!! Nowe watch God move.

    Advice to Management

Stop being racist and down grading people that pay your paycheck.

I have been working at MidSouth Bancorp full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The HR Dept is great! Friendly, professional people, including employees with MidSouth University.

    Cons

The worst manager I have ever worked for- lacking skills, territorial, and easily intimidated by new talent. The communication between depts. is deplorable and the territorial attitude is absurd. This is not a team but a chaotic egomaniacal mess. Technology is piece milled and outdated. Policies and procedures are inconsistent,in many times undocumented, and vague. Expectations are subjective and open for wildly different interpretation from day to day. New ideas are treated like a plague- quarantined and censored until employees' spirits are broken. Morale is hideous.

    Advice to Management

Find another profession- manipulation and intimidation tactics do not reach goals. They ruin company culture and employee's ability to identify as part of a cohesive team.
