    Positive Outlook

I worked at Middle East Technical University (More than a year)

    Pros

You gain many skills such as: time management, critical thinking, presentations, research, public speaking, training, advising, grading, leadership, team work, etc. (many others)

    Cons

During the mid terms and final exams, things can get pretty messy, meaning that if you are following your own masters, having to work on your final projects, and at the same time you have to grade 100 papers, and go for 3-4 hours exams every day... you can get frustrated. The time pressure and the work load can be a bit difficult to handle. But I appreciate that from the beginning my professor warned me about the job being part time sometimes, and full time (or more) in other times. :)

    Advice to Management

There are assistants who do not have many Assistantship duties such as conducting seminars, lecturing, grading, office hours etc (and some of the assistants have none). In this case, consider to give more exams proctoring to those who are already doing anything, rather than splitting the exams in an equal manner between those who work every day for an entire semester and those who either work once in a week, or month, or never. Thank you.
