    Pros

Close proximity to town, serene community and great views. The James Martin Centre brings in a lot of visiting experts for talks and lectures. Career opportunities and connections accessible even to interns upon completing a summer internship. Regular working hours, good work-life balance. Excellent faculty for nonproliferation studies. Diverse student body.

    Cons

A little quiet at times, not a strong campus vibe expected from a graduate school. Not enough on campus food options.

    Advice to Management

Create more team gatherings, opportunities for socials; stronger alumni/employee connection would be desirable. Otherwise, everything's pretty great.

    Positive Outlook

I have been working at Middlebury Institute of International Studies full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Definitely full of good people that enjoy their work and sharing what they know with anyone who is curious. Everyone is passionate about the international related goals of the school.

    Cons

People are quite siloed into their particular departments, and there can be quite a bit of resistance to cross sectional collaboration at times. Sometimes this results in wasted project conception time, because no one wants to piggyback on the efforts of an existing plan at times

    Advice to Management

Work together with others across departments more. Also be open to different work styles people may have. Don't just assume that because someone is your intern, they do not necessarily bring many of their own strengths to the table.

I worked at Middlebury Institute of International Studies part-time

    Pros

Great work experience and great people to work with. In addition, very flexible schedule and the location is fantastic. I was able to work and still go to classes easily.

    Cons

The main con was that I was limited to less than 20 hours a week and most weeks I could only clock less than 10 hours.

    Advice to Management

I really enjoyed my experience, so there are not many suggestions. The main suggestion would be to allow more than just 20 hours a week.

    Neutral Outlook

I have been working at Middlebury Institute of International Studies part-time

    Pros

Great School and great people to work with.
Quiet environment to read and study while earning a little money.
Very flexible with scheduling and hours.

    Cons

No benefits for part time graduate students.
I cannot think of any other cons at the moment but I do have a 20 word minimum.

    Advice to Management

Increase pay. Graduate students are already highly educated. Monterey is an extremely expensive place to live for students as it is.
