    Cons

Some areas of micromanagement. It felt like I spent more time documenting my work flow than doing my job.

    Current Employee - Physician, Hospitalist

I have been working at Middlesex Hospital full-time for more than 6 years

    Pros

Love the people, in general staff seem to be happy. Wide variety of patient demographics keeps things interesting. As a small community hospital, usually specialists are readily available and pleasant to coordinate care with.

    Cons

The business aspect has been frustrating. Recently consultants helped the hospital "save money"...so, filtered water is no longer provided to staff, to name a few. Hospitalists and nursing staff often are overworked and understaffed in my opinion.

I have been working at Middlesex Hospital full-time for more than 4 years

    Pros

This is a Magnet hospital with a small-community feel. If you want to work somewhere where you won't feel like you are just a cog in the wheel, Middlesex is a place where you can really shine.

    Cons

As with most hospitals, the nursing shortage is always an issue. If you do not have your BSN, you probably won't get an interview, unless you are specialty-certified.

    Advice to Management

Hire a good systems analyst to look at workflow and user/technology interface.
