I worked at Middlesex Savings full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

This job taught me to stick up for myself if i'm getting bullied and to not trust anyone else to do anything about it.

    Cons

Management doesn't do anything if people get bullied, management doesn't do anything about people being lazy and other people picking up the slack.

    Advice to Management

Hire someone who knows what a MICR line is, train people FULLY and make sure they're doing their job. They keep tons of logs like eDeposit set up logs, keying logs, employee analysis logs, but they don't track peoples performance with them. They allow people to pick up the slack on work that certain people don't feel like doing and it goes unnoticed. The last two people they hired during my employment were not fully trained, nor did they care. They were paying people to be in their cell phones all day while others did all the work. I was promised a promotion, and it never happened. I was also told that 4 of my documented errors were only going to count as one since they were the same thing, and when my review came up, it was counted as 4, nice surprise. One of the women who was hired was there for a year and had very bad performance and she bullied me. I asked my supervisor if my performance was that bad would I have been fired already, and she said yes. six months after that the woman quit, so they never fire people no matter what.

I worked at Middlesex Savings part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Very fair to employees. Very nice people to work with. Everyone from the top down really cares and takes the time to get to know you. Benefits and bonuses are well worth it. Branch and office locations are very well maintained and look great - especially when compared to other bank branches that often look dull and outdated.

    Cons

Technology is behind that of other banks and customers know and remind employees of it.

    Advice to Management

Focus on upgrading employee and customer facing technology - a little goes a long way!

I worked at Middlesex Savings full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The only pro for this place is that the employees at this bank are hard working, caring people. I have great memories of friends that worked there.

    Cons

This bank does not care for its employees, they do not reward them for work well done. instead they look for things to blame on you when in reality it is managements that makes the decisions and when things do not go as planned they look to you (the employee) to blame because it didnt work. This bank can even hold its executives on the job. Many have left for greener pastures because this bank does not know how to treat their employees, They are notorious for using bully tactics on their employees to scare them into doing what they want them to do. The slogan "Where your worth more" does not apply to the employees of this bank. As a customer of this bank it didnt apply to me as well. The HR department is one of the worse I ever seen. They tell you what you want to hear but as soon as you get them face to face with your supervisor they lie to you face because management sticks together no matter if they are in the wrong.

    Advice to Management

You are only as good as the employees that you hire. Try treating them like they mean something to the bank instead of being a # and replaceable.

I worked at Middlesex Savings full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Benefits, 401k, Pension Plan, a large number of paid holidays

    Cons

This company could have much more potential if they had the foresight to retain mid-level employees. Lack of pay, promotions, and trust from management, creates a revolving door of entry level employees who stay for 1-3 years and leave for far better opportunities. Employees who stay longer, often are expected to do manager level work while retaining entry level pay. Micro-managing is also a serious problem that stems from the top, down.

    Advice to Management

Trust and respect your employees. Reward hard work with fair pay. You're all on the same team and should be working collaboratively towards the same goals.
