    Negative Outlook

I worked at Midland Loan Services full-time for less than a year

    Pros

This company has good benefits that are comparative to their peers. They have 3 weeks paid time off and ten paid holidays. Be careful which team you join. Do your research. There are some teams that are better to start with than others.

    Cons

Do not join the portfolio service team. This team has high turnover due to their mismanagement. There are other teams that you can join. It is difficult to move up in this company due to the fact most managers have been with the company and in the same roles for five years plus. There are layers of management to and to get things approved is a thick bureaucratic process. Raises are low compared to peers and there is favoritism showed to a few employees on certain teams. If you can consider another opportunity with another company then go in that direction.

    Doesn't Recommend

I worked at Midland Loan Services full-time for more than a year

    Pros

None. Everything about this company under PNC sucks. The benefits, engagement activities, flexible schedules, room for growth, EVERYTHING.

    Cons

1 - managers are BY THE BOOK. If the employee handbook says it has to be a certain way then there's no flexibility whatsoever. 2 - managers are inconsiderate of other's lives 3 - managers show favoritism 4- managers act like we're in grade school instead of adults at work. Ex: in the bathroom too long or on the phone too long. OR when you want to come in earlier or later, there's no arrangement for you to do so 5 - never able to work from home UNLESS inclemet weather is scheduled and the managers want you to convenience them 6 - discouraged from having relationships with co-workers by managers 7 - ZERO room for growth 8- managers are extremely religious and it comes through in their managerial styles aka strict and depressing 9 - little to no work for 85% of the time but then you're reprimanded for being a relaxed employee 10 - little to no pay with no bonuses or increases 11 - when there is work, it comes from one of the managers trying to be Ms. Perfect and it's essentially pointless. Occasionally there will be real work to do that has meaning but most of it is ad hoc 12 - managers fight and argue loudly amongst themselves THEN when manager is upset with another manager it is taken out on employee 13 - ZERO discretion, your mistakes will be addressed at your or manager's desk for other coworkers to hear you 14 - none of the managers have a backbone, if the higher ups says yay or nay then don't expect anyone to defend you 15 - managers are rude, disrespectful, and CONDESCENDING Overall, the work is fine. I didn't mind it. It teaches you a lot if you're new to finance/accounting but the managers make you want to pluck your own eyebrows out. If you're good with just coming to work and doing what you're told to earn a minimal paycheck then go ahead but don't come to the DC office thinking it will be a great experience because it's not. If I could give it a negative rating I would.
