Interviewing in the “direct lending and specialty finance” group at Milbank. Can someone give me a brief synopsis of what exactly that means? It seems to be different, but the same thing essentially, as leveraged finance, but is also a completely different group from lev fin?
Perhaps an inane question, but why is there such a focus on 'market' (assuming Milbank scale) in judging firms versus culture/personality of partners within groups. Is it that firms are that fungible so when in doubt take the money? Is this perhaps more specific to M&A work that is very inhumane no matter where you go..

Small company, limited resourcesOct 10, 2017 - Anonymous EmployeeRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness Outlook
Small company with a family environment. You get to know everyone well.
Limited resources means people are expected to work 10+ hours every day and even then the company still can not meet delivery requirements. Nepotism is prevalent.

You can learn quite a lot.
Over time on weekends, sometimes not enough time for private life.
