    Pros

usual law firm perks and benefits

    Cons

constantly acquiring new job duties when people leave and are not replaced

    Advice to Management

Know when you have gone below zero in grinding down your staff. At some point, nobody will want to work there

I worked at Miller Thomson full-time

    Pros

Lots of litigation work for articling students (much more so than corporate). Litigation is definitely their "bread and butter." Files are staffed leanly so there are great learning opportunities for students.

    Cons

Expectations are that students will not turn down work except in extraordinary circumstances. Although most lawyers are respectful, there are a few who treat students, support staff, and particularly members of the IT department extremely poorly.

I have been working at Miller Thomson full-time

    Pros

Good pay and benefits for all employees.

    Cons

Old-school management. Local HR (Edmonton) uses antiquated and unprofessional techniques. Hard to maintain staff as a result.

    Advice to Management

Employees who feel valued and well-treated will work harder.
