I have been working at Miller-Valentine full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

I have worked for Miller-Valentine for over 10 years. Change is recognized, embraced and implemented in a collaborative manner. The leadership including the CEO are approachable and responsive - actively listening and evaluating what is best for creating and growing profit but most importantly, what is best for the employees.

    Cons

The current transition of company has created some confusion however, I do see this being addressed.

    Advice to Management

Keep communicating often and in various formats to reach all employees.

    Pros

MV always does what they say they are going to do. I have been here many years and seen a lot of history.

    Cons

    Parking downtown can be difficult.

    Advice to Management

Test the norm! Strive for excellence.

I have been working at Miller-Valentine full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The company really promotes flexibility in relation to work-life balance. There is a general attitude that if you take care of your employees, they will give you back 110%. When you have several people that have been with the company 15 - 20 year or more, that really speaks to how well others like the company. Why else stay so long?

    Cons

Some managers are great at running their own departments. But just because they are experts in their business area doesn't necessarily mean that they know the best way to run other departments. Some managers should let others run their own business area and not dictate what they believe to be best.

    Advice to Management

Continue attracting a variety of people and skillsets. I like that everyone can be valued for what they bring to the table. Especially when employees are combined with those of opposite talents, both the people and the company benefit in the end.

    Pros

MV's motto is 'Making People First' and you feel exactly that coming into work. Very well organized, structured company that works hard but still makes time to have fun.

    Cons

Vacation/Sick time run yearly from June to June which is more of a challenge to plan family vacations in the summer b/c you don't want to use all your time at the very beginning and still have a whole year to go through.

I have been working at Miller-Valentine full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good benefits, great manager, approachable upper management, flexible work schedule, training opportunities to improve skillset, bonus potential.

    Cons

Company is in transition. While excited about the vision, still a sense of uncertainty.

    Advice to Management

This has been a year of transition. Would like to see better communication, especially between departments to work together to meet goals and initiatives not only at higher levels, which is being done, but extend those to mid levels where the process, procedures and details are typically worked through. How can the department contribute and work with other departments to be a better partner internally for overall success?

I have been working at Miller-Valentine part-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good working environment with great, conservative values!

    Cons

They need to update some of their policies to reflect the current time. For example, they still separate vacation and sick time. Whereas most companies have moved to combining the two into PERSONAL TIME OFF hours.
