I have been working at MillerCoors full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great people and fairly collaborative work environment. Summer Friday's and some WFH options. If you like free beer then that is also a nice perk.

    Cons

Career paths for strong employees are determined by HR and management. You have virtually no say in how you want to shape your career (despite what is told to employees internally). Work life balance is "talked about" but the reality is that it's non existent. MillerCoors continues to lose strong talent because it can't see two inches in front of it's own face and own up to the reality of what is happening with morale and culture.

    Advice to Management

The pay scale is a joke compared to the rest of CPG, especially in Chicago. Work on that instead of telling employees they must do X amount of rotations to get ahead. Also the favoritism and cliques are getting pretty old.

I worked at MillerCoors full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

High pay if you want to work 12 hours every day which most of the old-timers at MillerCoors want.

    Cons

No Management whatsoever! The company lets the employees run the plant and set policy. Many of the old-timers were strikebreakers in the Golden plant so you can imagine where their loyalties reside...with themselves alone. The employees have created an atmosphere which is unimaginable in modern American society: racism, discrimination, open profanities and diatribes against homosexuals, women, African Americans, Latina/os, etc. are openly allowed and accepted by all. The work environment is always openly hostile unless you are one of the good old boys who "management" let operate the plant. The temporary workers are treated horribly...they do all the work while the old-timers sit in the break rooms drinking the Coors on tap.
Brews are dropped daily because Control Room operators are either asleep (because they work every day of the year because they demand to), are in the break rooms, or are apathetic. A sad environment to work in.
New, qualified, and professional employees leave quickly after being subjected to the hostile work environment.

    Advice to Management

This could be a great company with great jobs but there needs to be some management. Line employees should not be running, and ruining, the company and the product. MillerCoors promotes itself as being everything that is good but the USA but, instead, MillerCoors is everything people do not want.

I worked at MillerCoors as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

Good for recent grads looking to get experience in the industry. That is all I can think of at the moment.

    Cons

Hours. Forced overtime. No benefits. Unprofessional. Rumors. Toxic environment. Temporary environment breeds people who would rather tear you down to make themselves look better.

    Advice to Management

MAKE YOUR QUALITY TECHNICIANS PERMANENT EMPLOYEES! Don't play favorites so obviously.

    Pros

A few of the managers did are about your personal development and career advancement.

    Cons

"Good old boy mentality". The Hispanic market has long overlooked the Coors Light brand. An entire Hispanic Sales team was developed in hopes to penetrate the market and try to increase share. The team was under supported, and was often dismissed by upper level management as a misdirection. In short: publicly the company pretended to care about the Hispanic consumer, but racism (specific to Hispanic) was prevalent throughout the organization, dating back several decades.

    Advice to Management

Solicit honest feedback from your teams.

    Pros

Coors and Coors Light are quality beers; perhaps the merger with Miller improved their treatment of marketing employees.

    Cons

In the early '80's when I worked for Coors, the Coors family knew how to brew beer, but treated its marketing management employees as if they are things and not human beings.

    Advice to Management

Learn your employees are your most-valuable resource and treat them respectfully.

I have been working at MillerCoors as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Free allotment of beer every month. If you're a permanent employee. Which is nearly impossible to attain in under 2 years.

    Cons

If you happen to be a white male it's a great place to work. If you're a minority, good luck. One can walk through entire campus and not stumble across another race.

    Advice to Management

Trim the fat and hire the good temps and applicants. Guys constantly drop the ball, urinate in silos, the brewery is overrun with mice and cockroaches. Do something to clean the people and the place up. Coors is such an iconic location in Colorado, sad to see it in the state that it is.

    Pros

Good pay, benefits, free/ discounted beer if u drink

    Cons

If your unlucky enough to be in packaging. Never make plans NEVER they will get ruined

    Advice to Management

Go back to the basics. Making things to difficult. We make beer. We are supposed to be having fun. As of late everyone is just scared of management

I worked at MillerCoors (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Free beer, some good hardworking folks, competitive pay, Milwaukee and the Midwest are great places to be

    Cons

Caustic culture in which unionized hourly workers are often at odds with salaried management. Previous regime was loathe to spend money to fix/upgrade equipment, yet was production lines did not attain quotas sliced money off of maintenance budget to pay back to operations. They would rather breakdown and point fingers than spend money to upgrade equipment. That being said, new management seems to "get it", but for how long? Artisan workers (machinists, electricians, steam fitters) barely make more than brewery workers, who are plucked off the street and are some of the laziest people I have ever met. Upper management and corporate office workers are delusional and often sign off on projects with no inputs from the people who will affected by it the most....the brewery personnel. 60-70 hour work weeks with at least one weekend a month

    Advice to Management

    listen to your people,

    Pros

The people are really passionate about the business. We truly do have some of the best beer brands in the US.

    Cons

If you are Hispanic or AA, don't come work at MillerCoors. Though one of our key pillars is winning with Multiculturals, Hispanics in particular, the company has no strategy, and doesn't seem to care, for the attraction, development, or retention of multicultural employees, Any talk of diversity is just that.....talk. Stay away.

    Advice to Management

Do what it takes to retain your people. Hold your management team accountable for building diverse teams. Actions speak louder than words. Your leadership team is not representative of our consumers.
