    Pros

There is a strong safety commitment.. Decent pay compared to other local manufacturing jobs. Benefits are ok. Some opportunities to take plant related classes to add to a resume. Good starting job in chemical operations.

    Cons

Lack of promotion growth. Good 'ole boys club. A even split of people who have been at the company for 20+ years and people who have been there under 4 years creates some culture issues. Way too much responsibility expected for pay levels. Lack of fairness on discipline.

I worked at Milliken Chemical full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Recognized as a leading chemical company, & known to be innovative. Diversified businesses beyond chemicals. Much freedom to do what you want without repercussions, & the chemical products are still excellent. Kudos to those predecessors who had invited & managed the great products to sustain the business.

    Cons

Local Senior leadership really lacks long term vision, worse of all they seem to side with favored associates irrespective of what ridiculous decisions these associates make. Ethics is deeply questionable, yet remarkably this company still wins the ethisphere award every year ! The annual code-of-conduct training online that each associate is made to go through doesn't work, because associates do not follow them in their business dealings in their strive to hit their stretch goals for maximum bonus. In fact, the leaders encourage them! If they cannot deliver the targets, expect to be shown the way out very soon irrespective of their past contributions (it's history, in the words of the bosses)

    Advice to Management

The descendents of the Milliken family better send a 'Undercover Boss' to rescue the company soon

I have been working at Milliken Chemical full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

If you are production then your job is secure and safe. No lay offs. If you are just out of school as an engineer or chemist, you can get some excellent job experience to add to your resume and then go somewhere else better.

    Cons

Promotions aren't based on hard work, motivation, or dependability. It is based on being in the click, knowing about the latest football scores or NASCAR drivers. The lazy ones who put off their work on someone else always gets the promotions and easier jobs because management know that the hard workers will pick up the slack.

    Advice to Management

Just because you went to school...don't mean you know it all. Also...when walking down the hallway, can you acknowledge the production workers rather than walk by and rarely speak. Production are the ones making money for the company. A pat on the back and a thank you is most appreciated.

    Pros

The people you work with are some of the best I have ever interacted with

The managers are some of the worst I have ever dealt with.

I have been working at Milliken Chemical full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

It has been a great first job, provides the experience and hands on training that you can use at other job places, allow you to take classes through the company like six sigma, etc.

    Cons

Decisions are made by corporate, once those above you have made a choice you must follow. Communication has not been great on a plant level. The division focuses on one project at a time.

    Advice to Management

Learn to multitask. Do not be a boss, be a coach to your employees. People do better in the reviews you offer than when you come in blazing.

I worked at Milliken Chemical full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I find it very hard to find a Pro

    Cons

The Culture is not of this century...associates are rude to each other, unwilling to help each other, and constantly creating busy work ..I feel horrible for the people who work there because they will never know what proper treatment is- how do you survive the daily beat downs? There is also no balance between work and what is important in life- your family and friends. Job Seekers RUN! If you are still there try to get out... I did.. and it is so much better on the outside.....

    Advice to Management

As long as you let the Good Ole Boy Network to continue there will be no change-
