I worked at Milwaukee Bucks full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Gained very useful cold calling and basic sales skills that can be translated into other industries. Working in the NBA is awesome, with the exposure to players and the arena. All employees get free tickets to all the games. Most employees including management are young and majority of entry level are fresh out of college (this can be good/bad). Ton of free food during the week and always on weekday game nights.

    Cons

    Irregular hours (it's the NBA)
    Very Low Base Pay
    Micromanagement at times
Schedule can change day to day in terms of game duties

    Advice to Management

Get the people who don't want to be there/underperform out. They are a drain on your employees who are actually performing and your resources. Set reasonable targets/goals. Communicate growth opportunities better. Get back to the fun successful culture and do not settle for mediocrity.

I worked at Milwaukee Bucks full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

It's fun to work in sports. The atmosphere is fun, energetic and fast paced.

    Cons

If you are working in sales, you better be prepared to make 40-60 cold calls a day. You will also have to work every game which includes weekends and holidays. The NBA season doesn't stop.

I worked at Milwaukee Bucks full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

For high pressure sports sales job management team was awesome at working with you to help you hit goals and give you training.

    Cons

No possibility of advancement outside of ticket sales. Poor pay in general, but not terrible within sports.

I have been working at Milwaukee Bucks full-time

    Pros

working in professional sports, perks of going to other sporting events for free in the professional sports industry. Everyone knows everyone in the NBA and among some other teams. When you're hitting your goals you get rewarded well as a team and individual

    Cons

low pay, produce way more than what you get paid but that's the norm in all professional sports. Leadership team is definitely favorable to brown nosers. There is not a good culture here but is steadily improving. No one really is invested in the selling culture since this market is cheap. No promoting within to management roles for career advancement

Bucks are set in building a strategy on and off the court to be the best organization in the world. There's only one direction to go and that is up !

    Cons

You better be ready and dedicated to your Job.
The entire culture is focused on performance and tangible results. If you have a weak stomach get out or don't apply

I worked at Milwaukee Bucks full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

It was a great opportunity to work for a professional sports franchise. Enjoyed the fast paced work environment, and wonderful fans. Learned a lot about the business of sports. Game days can be very fun and offer a great opportunity to interact with fans and support the brand.

    Cons

In season work schedule can be grueling due to the long hours on game days. Lack of competitive pay and benefits. Employee's didn't always feel as if management supported them when dealing with difficult clients and/or fans. Management discards veteran staff for younger and cheaper staff annually.
