I worked at Milwaukee Center for Independence full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I enjoyed working with the clients on my caseload but they managed ro destroy those relationships too by not taking care of clients

    Cons

Management couldnt be worse. No regard for the clients, all about the money and it shows. Every client I had complained. I honestly think they would've been better off without the services. Sad

    Advice to Management

Get educated, practice self care, put yourself in the clients shoes, gain some compassion for the people who need support. Remind yourself DAILY that YOU are working for THEM. Not rhe orher way around. And quit giving yourselves raises. Your employees need to survive on more than a McDonald's gift card for Christmas! Good God, just close and do the clients a favor.

I have been working at Milwaukee Center for Independence full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The benefits and the company culture.

    Cons

Everyday is a different day, as the state regulates your guidelines for accepting PHW applications. At times it can be repetitive and boring. I wish OT was consistent, one day OT will be on and the next OT can come off. It's annoying if you have plans and can't stay.

    Advice to Management

Needs more guidance and communication. Sometimes it felt like you weren't doing your job correctly.

I worked at Milwaukee Center for Independence full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I had written quite a lot of pros and cons. I will keep this short and to the point however as I've had more time to think about it.

    Pros.

    - Monday through friday
    - Most holidays off
    - Nice Christmas partys
    - Some dedicated co-workers
    - Fun trips and projects
    - Upper management is DELIGHTFUL : )
-Offers some nice little benifits for schooling (with the caveat you stay a year in a posistion that benifits them) nothing too too special though
-Very accepting and diverse (awesome diversity team)

    Cons

-Understaffing pretty much all the time at every campus
-Immediate managment has conflicting views on managment and prone to dissent and obvious communication breakdown
-Workers who SHOULD Not of been in health care staying dispite not enjoying healthcare, this drags down moral
-Schedule changes would happen multiple times a day to accomidate short staffing
-Cna's had teaching and charting that typically people with special education liscenses would need to hold, for the pay scale (on the lower end of CNA's in Milwaukee) this was asking for a lot. Especially on top of cares.
-Moving us is almost impossible unless you can afford school
    -HIGH deductables for health care

    Advice to Management

-Create sepreate rolls for CNA's and teachers, the people you serve will thank you as well as your workers being able to focus on their specific rolls

-Upper management bring in some fresh ideas invest in your workers hourly, I know we have new people taking charge I belive in you

I worked at Milwaukee Center for Independence full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Mission driven, client centered, new CEO is compassionate and very client focused as well as focused on stabilizing things, there is a genuine desire to advance diversity among management

    Cons

Horrible work/life balance due to unrealistic expectations of staff, lack of accountability within management, claim of transparency yet communication in certain areas has gotten worse, there is a lack of diversity in management roles currently

    Advice to Management

CEO should keep moving in a positive direction and require all leadership to treat one another with respect at all times. Hire leaders not supervisors.

    Cons

Upper management is difficult to work with and not open to ideas from those working directly with clients, pay is low for the amount of work expected to do, high turnover rate for all positions, unorganized, poor training for new employees, little to no outings for clients.

    Advice to Management

Take input from employees, offer higher pay to reduce high turnover rate
