    I worked at MindTouch, Inc.

    Pros

MindTouch is a great company with many benefits. It provides an environment to be great and learn in any of their many departments. They except and respect innovation, and always listen to new ideas. I would recommend this company to anyone who is looking for an established company with a phenomenal product that has a start up mentality.

    Cons

There are no cons from my perspective. Just be ready to continuously change with the Customer Success Revolution.

I have been working at MindTouch, Inc. full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Good people, great location, modern office space. Quirky startup perks - catered lunches, public transport/parking reimbursement, company activities, awesome pinball machines. Startup company, lots of opportunities to try out your ideas. You're always encouraged to innovate and implement best practices. The list of clients they're adding is pretty diverse and exciting, definitely moving in a positive direction. ...

    Cons

If you haven't worked in a startup environment before, it may be painful. There's a lot of work to be done and you usually need to work with the resources at hand, from strategy through execution. For the right type, this is also creates great opportunity.

As you point out, high growth software companies are not for everyone. Things move fast and hours are often long. I'm very proud of our ability to promote MindTouchers into management and more senior roles. We have many examples of this throughout the organization, including (but ...

I have been working at MindTouch, Inc. full-time for less than a year

    Pros

MindTouch has a fantastic startup atmosphere. If you're willing to work hard, put in the hours, and execute on projects -- opportunities will come your way. Best of all, you'll never feel like a cog in a machine :) Some other fun perks include catered (healthy) lunches 3 times a week + occasional breakfast burritos, hardworking, yet friendly co-workers, a very advanced SaaS product, and unlimited learning opportunities

    Cons

Having to pay for parking downtown.

    Advice to Management

MindTouch has, by far, the most efficient (and approachable) management team that I've ever stumbled across :) Keep up the great work!

    Pros

The product is an amazing solution to sell in today's ever changing world but the best part is working with highly skilled colleagues who can help make you a better professional. Is MindTouch guilty of holding people responsible for their jobs? Yes Does MindTouch expect you to deliver value to the customer on every interaction? Long hours but the hard work pays off for those who put in their time. It takes a little while to learn the culture, but once you do, you realize management is only trying to empower you.

    Pros

Location, Product works. Nice office. Pay for lunch 3 times a week. 9-5.

    Cons

MindTouch is not a team environment....It's an "Aaron Fulkerson" environment. CEO is abusive, impulsive , dogmatic and unprofessional on many levels.

    Advice to Management

What management? Hire a real CEO, one with experience in building companies.

I have been working at MindTouch, Inc. full-time

    Pros

The People ------------- The people are by far the best part of working at MindTouch (with a few exceptions). From the sales to customer success to engineering, you can find great people everywhere, that really care about the company and seeing it succeed. Work-Life Balance --------------------- Little work outside of normal business hours.

    Cons

Growth -------- MindTouch is not a place that promotes growth, both from a career and product view. If you want to contribute and build something awesome by being part of a great team, this is not the company for you. All decisions float down from the top. Salary ------- They claim to be a start-up and use that (as well as the 'Sunshine tax') as an excuse to give extremely poor salaries. Leaving MindTouch, I...

    Pros

MindTouch is a great place to work for. The workplace environment is fun and laid back, which always led to an increase in productivity.

    Cons

Stock options were offered in lieu of cash raises. Since it was a startup, the direction and mission statement of the company changed frequently.

    I worked at MindTouch, Inc.

    Pros

    - a desire to build the best software for the users - really competitive atmosphere in development org - casual office hours (come and go as you please) - free lunches - downtown San Diego location is great - nice offices

    Cons

    - lack of a true product direction: our strategy changed 3x in the 2 years I was there. CEO (founder) chases shiny objects and the CTO (founder, chief investor) lets it happen repeatedly. - if you don't agree with plans, you're openly mocked or marginalized. constructive criticism of the CEO is only given at your own peril. - insincere promises of advancement and/or raises - constant impression that the company...

I have been working at MindTouch, Inc.

    Pros

Senior management rewards hard work, and is very ethical. Those who point to a recent high turnover, particularly in the engineering department, need to understand that refocusing our product and building a excited team to execute on it took some tough decisions. We replaced talented engineers by themselves with talented engineers that work well together. Roles and responsibilities are much better defined now, and the...

    Cons

Senior management had a history of getting very excited about unqualified executives. I believe the last of these hires is now gone, and am truly inspired by the current executive team. Process, goals, and strategy have been obfuscated in the past (however this has gotten much better). There are legacy decisions and products we must support, designed and shipped by employees no longer present, prior to our product refocus....

    Pros

MindTouch offers a great culture and employees truly are diligent about accomplishing ambitious goals. MindTouch employees are very tight-knit and strive to learn more about their profession through a high level of team engagement. MindTouch employees enjoy an open floor plan which fosters an excellent team atmosphere.

    Cons

MindTouch is located in the heart of San Diego which make for an excellent lifestyle. However, San Diego doesn't have a well formed tech industry so you miss out on some of the excitement you would experience in other cities such as San Francisco or Austin.
