Technical Account Manager

Being a woman in tech, I only recently started advocating for myself at work about advancement opportunities. Because of this I wanted to ask this question to my male counterparts. When you have 1:1's with your direct reports and talk about career growth / aspirations what is your managers’ response typically? I’d like to gauge how my experience (negative) differs from others. For instance are you met with blockades, enthusiasm, dread, etc?

    Pros

    A diverse global culture a challenging place to work, its not easy to work for Mindbody but in that challenge is growth Its a fun place to work, they care about their staff and promote health and wellbeing

    Sometimes we move too quickly and its hard to keep up The industry was hit hard by Covid-19

    Pros

    It was an absolute pleasure working at Mindbody. I loved the mission, and I was bought into where it was going. Here is why I stayed: Amazing team members. A fascinating client base. A lot of business growth opportunities. A passionate middle management team. Core values you want to live by.

    Cons

    Why I left: 1. Mindbody got lost in corporate politics and best practices playbooks. It lost its innovation. It lost its customer focus. 2. My position in the company - If you want to be in management, aim to join as a Director or higher. Managers are expected to operate as people managers, project managers, and operations managers. Compensation doesn't reflect the additional workload, and you will continue to be spread thin. 3. Leadership - Most of the C-Suite aren't respected, trusted, or liked. There is a lot of talk about them being inauthentic, but the reality is that they are their authentic selves; it just isn't the authenticity the company is looking for right now. 4. Product - Technical debt is a huge problem. This has caused the product not to be user-friendly. Technical debt drives up the cost of delivery, making teams try to penny-pinch wherever possible. Hence, all the comments about outsourcing and time tracking.

    Pros

    - Influences more people's wellness than any other company in tech - Core business profitable and multi-year product reinvention launching imminently - Acquired ClassPass which is high growth / moves fast and opening up tons of option value

    - Still climbing out of pandemic impact - CP integration a bit confusing and painful at times

    Pros

    Amazing people at all levels. Hardworking, humble, helpful, intelligent, talented, funny, creative, and friendly people. Core values are easy to get behind. And the people. (The people are awesome)

    Cons

    Sometimes it feels a bit unstable. Going Public, going private, change of CEO, lots of turnover on the ELT.

    Pros

    They put an emphasis on hiring leaders and managers that really look after their employees. The have a focus on diversity as well and personal health - physically, emotionally, and mentally

    Cons

    The pay scale for most of their positions lag behind a lot of top companies.

    Awesome people to work with. Strong focus on core values.

    Cons

    There is always a lot going on and the work can be challenging to manage at times. Not necessarily a con though if you don't like being bored.

    really good people. interesting work. decent benefits.

    Cons

    Pay is really low and doesn't scale with tenure. People hired years after you will basically make the same amount as you because starting wages increase at the same rate as merit increases. Laid off a ton of people at the start of Covid, everyone left had to work at 110% capacity to still hit deliverables. Then they decide not to refill lots of those positions because we are " still able to hit goals' with lowered headcount. Nevermind that staff is burning out. Mindbody is accelerating pace despite high turnover. It feels like we are constantly being asked to do more, but no one knows what they are doing.

    Free Coffee, Onsite Fitness Classes, Monthly Wellness Stipend, Good Benefits

    Cons

    Majority of leadership showed lack of integrity and that was not only accepted, but seemed to be encouraged. Unkind and deceitful behavior was rewarded.
