Teachers and staff were wonderful to work with. I loved working with students and seeing them grow.

Working with administration could be extremely stressful.

    Advice to Management

Try to remember when you were a teacher and not an administrator.

I worked at Mingus Union High School full-time

    Pros

The entire school buildings have been refurbished. The AC usually works. Electricity and indoor plumbing can be found in all campus buildings.

    Cons

Technology is feared and not invested in. You probably had better technology in a 2002 middle school. Paranoia about relying on tech abounds, especially that students might "waste time" on it.

Also, they tend to promote English and math teachers (the most favored departments) into administration. No matter how unqualified.

The school also overspends time and money on sports. Don't be surprised to be asked to change grades so a kid qualified for a game. Kids know this and will abuse it!

    Advice to Management

Hire people outside of the school as your administration. Stop the nepotism. Promote academics over sports. You are a school, not a professional sports league.
