    I have been working full time as a Studio Director in Boston for almost 2 years. After reading a lot of the reviews for the company, I felt I needed to set the record straight. This job, just like any position here or anywhere, is exactly what you make of it. I have hustled and worked hard, and it has paid off. They have given me 2 generous pay increases in less than 2 years, as well as great and fair bonus potential....

    As a Studio Director, sometimes your work/life balance can be difficult. It takes a lot of work to get the proper team in to place, and get them feeling empowered and confident when you are not present. Since it's the service industry, the hours can be daunting. Especially working a lot of "bank holidays" that most people have off. Clients can be trying and very demanding, and it takes confidence and a tough skin...

    Advice to Management

    My advice is to possible future employees- take all reviews with a grain of salt. Frustrated people lash out, and many people expect the grass to always be green somewhere else. As they say- the grass is green where you water it. I am watering mine every day- are you willing to water yours? If you are, you will be rewarded and successful.

    Clean and very professional salon.

    Cons

    Lazy coworkers. Sometimes they move your break until the end of your shift.

    Share the work equally. Some people just never do laundry.

    Discount on services, and the nail techs are the only workees there that are friendly!

    Cons

    Management, Pay, Customers, Culture, Uniform. Basically everything there sucked and I regret wasting a yr of my life there.

    I worked at Miniluxe full-time for less than a year

    Pros

    Getting your nails done for free... Literally, that's it.

    Cons

    Inexperienced management, catty environment, unorganized, communication is poor. Everyone in management and upper management preaches a positive "girl power" type of environment, but no one actually lives that way. Lots of judgment, cattiness, etc.

    Advice to Management

    Hire better managers.

    Provides tools and uniforms. (Unlimited supplies) Commuter pre-tax account Health insurance, Pet Insurance Good PTO 401K (company doesn’t match) Pay is better than other similar places. Tips in Venmo, Cash or Card. Pet Insurance

    Cons

    Favoritism. Long-time employees who have worked 10+ years act like they own the salon, lots of gossips, they are on the phone all day long, watching movies of different language and don’t even bother putting in headphones. These employees punt their chores to other hard workers, and just seem to come to work to secure their hours. Managers seem to turn a blind-eye for these long-time employees which sets a bad example...

    Most managers are not respectful to their employees. Does not treat nail techs like equals. Unprofessional. broken promises.

    I know you just work there too... The CEO and higher ups dont care if youre paid or if your taxes are taken out correctly. They are on a 1099, dont understand the value of a w2. I have begged for my withholdings to be changed for months, never were, accumulated a big expense i have to pay at the end of the year. Brian said who cares if it wasnt done timely it was done....not realizing when its not done immediately...

    There are absolutely no pros for working at this company whatsoever and all of the reviews on here with positive experiences are written from corporate or people who work there who are told to do it while their bosses watch... I’ve seen it firsthand.

    Cons

    They have many open court cases from employees. Look them up! This place is a sweatshop. What they do is hire a mixed crowd, and only give the top positions to white staff who play their dirty game. When they give a position of “power” to a staff member who is not white, it is simply to be the scapegoat. They paid me $17 and hour and I later found out that the majority of the white staff in my same role were making min....

    Advice to Management

    Throw your whole company away! You all are a disgrace and I’m not sure how you are getting away with this or sleeping sound at night but everything done in the dark comes to light. I hope your company tanks because you do not deserve to thrive and step on the backs of your hardworking employees.

    The culture here is awesome. The studios are clean and so are the business practices, MiniLuxe is committed to taking care of their employees. Everyone is so passionate and it is such a fun environment to work in. The business is evolving, and quickly, so there is a lot happening at once, a lot of change - for the better! Really glad I joined this MiniLuxe.
