I worked at Minneapolis Schools for less than a year

    Pros

Good salaries. Pays for extra inservice in summer. There are many great teachers here. Loved it here until things changed. Loved working with students.

    Cons

Very political. Brings in new management from out of district to clean out staff.

    Advice to Management

Do your own house cleaning. Treat all staff as appreciated individuals. You catch more bees with honey.

I have been working at Minneapolis Schools full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Great salary and benefits! If you decide that you want to work at a different school, at the end of the school year you can participate in the bidding process where you select schools that have openings, apply, and then they call you for an interview.

    Cons

The District Program Facilitators for Special Education have little knowledge of what takes place in the schools they are supposed to be managing. These are the people you are supposed to go to for support and assistance but often times they are unable to do either of those things. The district as a whole continues to cut programs which in turn makes more work for the unappreciated teachers.

    Advice to Management

    Appreciate your employees.
