    there are flexible hours, a lot sick and vacation time, some opportunity to advance, rewarding career, no layoffs

    Cons

    takes awhile for advancement, difficult job, intense training, union run, under paid for the amount of work

    Reprimands do not qualify as "training".

    Job security; excellent benefits (except vacation time); quality training options; easy commute; separate sick pay; resources for employees if needed

    Cons

    job depends on legislature; government shutdown affects job; union; pay is low compared to private sector; low vacation time for new hires

    Advice to Management

    Leaders need to be more fiscally responsible; need to consider quality of workforce and compensation to attract skilled workforce, especially in light of upcoming retirement boom in department.
