I have been working at Minnesota Office Technology Group full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Work/Life balance is actually possible with this sales job and management plays a big role in that. Like any sales job put in the work and you will be rewarded, however management is realistic with expectations and it's very refreshing. No micro managing. Small office and incredibly welcoming staff. Able to ask lots of questions and I feel like I'm part of a team that wants to see everyone be successful.

    Cons

1st year can be tough. The first year is all about setting up year 2 and beyond due to contract structure so it can feel like finding a needle in a haystack. Training was a bit lacking when I started but changes have been made and it seems better from what I've heard from new hires. Very small office so if your looking to climb the corp ladder not the place for you.

    Pros

Small but fun, supportive and motivating team. It’s a great work environment and you get the benefits of working in a smaller office while being a part of a larger organization.

    Cons

Could have clearer training and processes but overall, it’s a great place!

I have been working at Minnesota Office Technology Group full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Income- This is one of the few 6 figure income jobs with little to no travel. It is very rare for an employee of 2-3 years to make under 100k. Variety- Personally this is Pro for me and why I love sales as a career. I get to interact with different people and different businesses everyday which keeps things interesting. You are not stuck behind a desk all day, if you want to run your book behind a desk or in the field it is up to you. Growth- MOTG is still a small office but growing rapidly. With that roles can change quickly but it allows you to add your input on these changes. Promotions are endless as the company grows and MOTG has a lot of growth in the coming years. Incentives/bonus- MOTG does a great job awarding sales performers. A lot of companies will have yearly incentives but MOTG will run them quarterly. Anything from Cash, Trips, Dinners and Prizes. Management- This is always a interesting category since management does put pressure on you towards month and quarter end but its sales! Management does care about you personally and you are not just a number here. You are here to do a job and are expected to hit the minimum requirements but as long as you do your job you will have the freedom to run your assignment how you like. They understand life happens and will be flexible when needed.

    Cons

1st year- the first year here is really challenging. It takes a while to learn the business and build your book. You will be somewhat micro managed with activity until you are hitting your number but it will all payoff in the long run. After a year things will start to make sense and the sky is the limit. Entertaining/expenses- you are given a monthly allowance for expenses and customer entertainment but you will use it up on your own expenses which does not leave money for clients gifts/lunches. These extra things will be on your own dime. I don't know if someone abused this in the past that we now have this system in place but it can make it difficult when building client relationships on a budget. Activity measurements- You are expected to hit certain weekly activity goals. This is to help keep your pipeline full but I feel sometimes management focuses to much on volume of activity versus quality of activity. Vacation/time off- Vacation time is your time and you can take it whenever you want. However you only get 2 weeks (10 days) with 1-2 float holidays per year until you have been here for 5 years. This could be worse but I struggle each year to have days left for personal vacations after family/friend events. Health Benefits- MOTG-Xerox has full benefits but I feel the cost is very high especially for a corporation as large as Xerox.

I have been working at Minnesota Office Technology Group full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The people here are great! It is a small office, so it feels like one small family. Management works hard to make it a fun environment, by always having incentives and fun outings going on! You are given the tools you need to succeed.

    Cons

This is very competitive industry, so you have to be highly motivated.

I have been working at Minnesota Office Technology Group full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - The office is in growth mode. Lots of opportunity for sales reps who possess the drive to build their territory and learn about business. There is ongoing training to help the reps and management be the best that they can be. The support given by COTG is immense - from special pricing to extra support to help us succeed as a whole. This is not a place where you have 3 months to sell or your fired. We build the reps through training and reviewing activity to help the meetings move toward next steps and then sales. There are weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual bonuses , trips and incentives . A fun environment.

    Cons

The only challenge I see, that adds to the opportunity, is that we have a small footprint in the Twin Cities. Someone who is looking for a guaranteed territory base would not do well here. Hunters do.

I worked at Minnesota Office Technology Group full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - Nice people to work with. - front desk employee is amazing. - If you are entry level and have never worked a sales job. You will appreciate every job you have after this one.

    Cons

    - MICROMANAGEMENT- It’s like working in a small fish tank. Even entertaining level reps don’t get this much which means high turn over rate. Going to the bathroom feels like a sin. WORK LIFE BALANCE DOESN’T exist. God for bid you have a family matter, health issue, or emergency. - Chicago office is put before our office. They have better service, work life balance exists, mangers value there employees mental health.

I worked at Minnesota Office Technology Group full-time

    Pros

Hard working team both sales, service, and office personal

    Cons

Outdated management outlook provided by sister company COTG. They would be wise to speak with other vendors in the Twin Cites matket. To understand why other companies are sucsuccessful, and not MOTG.

I have been working at Minnesota Office Technology Group full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great compensation and training program. Fun after work activities, great sales incentives. Learn the in's and out's of being a true sales professional from cold calls to contract negotiations to implementation and account management. Work hard play hard is the motto. The people you work with make it fun.

    Cons

Incredibly stressful work environment. Job purpose is to hunt down new business. Little support from managers and high turnover rate within management. During my tenure with the company a sales director, service manager, install technician, and two account executives quit. Administrative duties are handle off site at parent company in Chicago making communication on high priority issues and account documents hard to obtain.
