I worked at Miramax full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Smart, talented people, fun environment. Summer hours, catered lunch Fridays.

    Cons

Management allows problem employees to continue to thrive and even excel. Morale was terrible throughout the company.

    Advice to Management

Re-evaluate priorities and how employees are treated and get a handle on problem employees

I worked at Miramax (More than a year)

    Pros

Some interesting work. Lots of exposure to upper management, from VPs up to the CEO. Good benefits. Hours aren't bad.

    Cons

Lots of backstabbing, gossip and turnover. Too many big insecure egos and politics, and too many managers don't seem to know what they're doing.

    Advice to Management

Bring in a consultant to separate the hacks from the good employees. Pay more at the lower levels to improve morale.

I worked at Miramax (More than a year)

    Pros

All of the perks: Catered lunches, snacks, summer hours, holiday shutdown, football

    Cons

Terrible entertainment work experience. Most of the management level executives have NO entertainment experience. Makes it extremely difficult to learn anything with all of the micromanaging. There is office favoritism with the Human Resources department. If you are experienced in office gossip, fights & have no future, then this is the place to work at! Only at Miramax!

    Advice to Management

    Completely restructure management.

    Pros

I received great exposure to the film distribution world and learned a great deal about digital marketing. My supervisors were patient and hands-on.

    Cons

Overall, I had a very positive experience during my internship and wish I could have stayed longer to learn more.

    Advice to Management

I think Miramax is a great company to work for with great management. There is an inclusive company culture there.

    I worked at Miramax full-time

    Pros

Nice co-workers who'll help you out

    Cons

The pay was rather low compared to other companies, since they were bought by a larger company, priorities change quickly

    I worked at Miramax full-time

    Pros

Lots of really wonderful individuals to work with. Each person has a wealth of knowledge and experience that they bring to the table and most are willing to help younger people grow.

    Cons

Management was extremely belittling and negative. HR may as well have been non-existent. Basically had the general issues you think of when you think of the Entertainment Industry.

    Advice to Management

Acknowledge younger team members as real people and not minions. Hopefully HR has been built to have some sort of code of ethics and conduct by now.
