I worked at Mission Inn Hotel & Spa part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Beautiful surroundings, gorgeous spa facilities very posh, great pay it was $10 an hour + 18% comission on every service + tips, very busy consistently for massage, not sure about insurance and benefits because I wasn't full time but I know they had them, tons of different guests and co workers, nice employee free lunc and usually consisting of really good food and many fancy extras like desserts from the kitchen

    Cons

Working holidays and weekends because it's a hotel open 365 days a year.

I worked at Mission Inn Hotel & Spa full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

friendly staff; room for growth; great learning experience working within the hospitality field and public; historical location to learn and share history with guests

    Cons

too much drama; too much of a "high school" background, since half of the employees are 30 or below; management has a hard time listening to the employees that are actually doing their job and instead gives more of a benefit to those who refuse work; room for growth is there, but not enough learning experiences in other departments to be able to move up.

    Advice to Management

It is the employees who do not do enough in their positions that somehow move up, when others who do three times as much get left behind. I still cannot understand how that is fair for anyone who walks through the door, ready to give their all, only to be turned down in the end. The office politics needs to be eliminated.

    Pros

Getting hired was fast and easy, compared to other companies, which was nice! There are free food and drink in the employee only cafeteria. In most cases, one can get promoted or transferred to a different department if requested (but not in every case that deserves it.)

    Cons

Unorganized. Some departments don't train new employees. They just drop them in there and expect them to pick everything up their first few days. I don't feel like they do not resolve work related issues very well. They do not promote from within the company as much as they like to boast. Lastly, I have witnessed (and experienced SUBTLE) racial and sexist discrimination while working here.

    Advice to Management

Most of the management is great, except for those who choose to be unprofessional (gossiping with employees, not being able to control emotions, etc.) And letting your employees know that you appreciate them goes a long way.

I worked at Mission Inn Hotel & Spa part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

It was a gorgeous place to work and smelt of eucalyptus through out the ground floor! During Christmas it's like heaven with all of the lights and figurines, along with carriage rides and hay rides! A must see if you're in riverside ca.

    Cons

It was always so busy that you couldn't make your way around people whether they am were on the street or in the hotel/restaurant.

    Advice to Management

I don't have many things to complain about with this company! I think they did a great job and everything seemed to always run very smoothly even when we were overwhelmed with business. They are a great company to work for! They treat they're employees very well!

    Pros

Great staff, very fun working environment. The bosses take care of you and make sure to work with your schedule. They really do want to be friends with you.

    Cons

During Festival of Lights, expect to work every day, including Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas, and New Years. The place is falling apart, literally, the building is coming apart.

    Advice to Management

Take care of the building, the bar is about 30 years old, not enough racks for glassware and dishes. Remodel a little bit, instead of claiming that its part of the history and just being plain cheap.

I worked at Mission Inn Hotel & Spa full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good opportunity for someone who may need a job in the Inland Empire
fun to work with vendors and guests
creative employees will thrive in this work environment
they will cross train a lot

    Cons

cafeteria is so-so when it comes to selection
    small employee bathrooms
Its an old building so it does have old building problems
the heat brings out extreme challenges, the weather is extreme in the area!!
read your contracts and arbitration paper
little or zero activities around if you are relocating; expect to bump into co-workers in grocery stores
christmas days off can be tough due to city festival

    Advice to Management

appreciate the front desk and housekeeping more, it can be a thankless job and the challenges for the building is undeniable.
