I worked at Mission Support Alliance full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

MSA seems committed to the safety of their workers. Nice opportunities for employees to take part in community involvement. Decent pay and benefits.

    Cons

Not much room for movement within the organization/department I worked for. Management was always trying to get the other members of management to do their dirty work. Untrustworthy. Difficult situations which needed to be dealt with were instead passed around the management team and never actually handled. I saw operational and procedural issues that were pushed off for years with no real action towards fixing the issues.

    Advice to Management

Build bridges between upper management and the individual department directors/management teams in order to ensure department infrastructures (procedures, customer service, etc.) are solid and compliant.

    Doesn't Recommend

I have been working at Mission Support Alliance (More than a year)

    Pros

Amazing pay for interns, flexible hours, and possible employment at the end. Generally friendly atmosphere.

    Cons

The Hanford Experience. Being young in a place where the average age is 55 has its challenges. Often found myself being the one to push things along.

I have been working at Mission Support Alliance full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The people I work with are great. Upper management is easy to talk to about issues. Wage is livable for the area.

    Cons

Salary isn't as high as it should be for women with as much experience as their male coworkers (who get paid more). The bargaining unit has absolutely no accountability.

    Advice to Management

    Work on pay equality.

I have been working at Mission Support Alliance as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great co-workers and managment. Coming from the outside of the industry I was welcomed in to the group and given great opportuinites to learn and get real world experience.

    Cons

Limited pay escalation, and for the most part a person has to move around in positions in order to advance.

I have been working at Mission Support Alliance full-time

    Pros

Excellent corprate atmosphere, supportive staff, training is improving, they honestly care, Pay and benefits are good if MSA employee.

    Cons

Many of us are hired through contractors. Quality of contractors varies. Contractor benefits not so good. Every few years, a re-bid causes stress. Government paper work is immense.

    Advice to Management

    Continue the improvement path.

I have been working at Mission Support Alliance as an intern (More than a year)

    Pros

High pay compared to other experiences.
    Great people to work with.
    Commitment to safety.

    Cons

As a female, I am paid less than my male intern counterparts. Though we aren't *supposed* to talk about it, we do. It is by several dollars an hour.
In addition, driving an hour to get here is awful. Literally a quarter of my paycheck goes to gas alone. A quarter!!!

    Advice to Management

I have no issue with management, although it has been my experience that bad behavior is rewarded. If an employee performs well, it is status quo. If someone is performing poorly, they are simply moved to a different position. Interesting...
