I have been working at Mississippi Baptist Health Systems

    Pros

The company provides an excellent set of benefits. It offers competitive salaries and opportunities for advancement in today's competitive healthcare environment. Overall, there are a lot of positive aspects to working at Baptist.

    Cons

The location of the main hospital in Downtown Jackson is a bit dangerous. There have been instances of crime in the area and even on campus; however, security officers are often seen patrolling the campus and available when needed.

    Advice to Management

Continue to listen to employees and act upon constructive criticism and feedback. Keeping happy, engaged employees is critical to the success of the hospital.

I worked at Mississippi Baptist Health Systems full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

The people employees at MS Baptist felt like family. They were passionate about the work they were doing.

    Cons

Administrative body was not supportive of middle management. There was always a focus on the dollar and not the people involved for improving the organization.

    Advice to Management

Be supportive of staff and address concerns from the front line employees. In addition, do not be afraid to reward those who achieve goals. Last, don't reward poor behavior or poor attitudes.

I worked at Mississippi Baptist Health Systems full-time

    Pros

    Great Employees and helping patients

    Cons

The worst immediate supervisor. She only were nice to people that did everything she wanted them to do. She was not supervisor material because she always gossiped about everyone and nothing was confidential. Everything that should have been done correctly was done incorrectly.

    Advice to Management

Have someone in leadership that's all about the benefit of employees as well as patients.

I have been working at Mississippi Baptist Health Systems full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Attempts to remain at the forefront of many healthcare issues. The organization is focused on retaining Magnet status, which is a win-win situation for nurses and their patients.

    Cons

Although much is said throughout the organization about transparency, there is much progress still to be made in that area. There are still some middle management individuals who continue to use old behaviors such as intimidation to gain compliance.

    Advice to Management

Believe that putting full trust in employees by letting them know what decisions are being made about them will garner loyalty and more pride in the organization. No one likes to hear about losing their job through the gossip mill, but this continues to be the way the organization works.
