I worked at Mississippi Power full-time

    Pros

Good benefits, if you want a job with a good ole boy mentality, MPC is your place. If you were part of Southern Company, Kemper offered the Kemper Bump: promoted into a position there, then leave in a year with another promotion to a lesser stressful environment.

    Cons

Politics, not competence, reigns supreme in management. Nepotism is at work. Anonymous reporting is used as scare tactics, leading to formal investigations. When claims are unfounded, the reporter is not reprimanded. Culture was horrendous. As of 2018, no more pension is offered to new employees. Current vested pension plans are being recalculated. Company match for 401k is being reduced. Attrition reigned supreme.

    Advice to Management

Reward people for what they know, not who they know. The diversity and inclusion policy is discriminatory. It's a shame to have managers in charge of systems where they have no understanding. Accountability is not in the MPC dictionary.
