I have been working at Missouri Baptist Medical Center (Less than a year)

    Pros

I started out here as a contractor. Loved it!! Now I have my foot in the door PRN!! Great job!! I'm paid very fairly. Amazing benefits for those who qualify. Huge healthcare system with lots of advancement possibilities and potential lateral career moves. Cultural diversity widely and openly promoted.

    Cons

I cannot think of one con to working for MO Baptist/BJC Health care. They treat employees fairly and with respect, overall just has been a great place to work.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work!! By far the best healthcare system to work for in STL.

I have been working at Missouri Baptist Medical Center full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great atmosphere and there is definitely a sense of family when working here. There is also a wide variety of patients that you get to see being a level II trauma center. Definitely more good things to say than bad.

    Cons

Working every 6th weekend. Can be difficult to take time off occasionally. Depending on your work time traffic can be a bit of a bear.

    Pros

There was a lot of innovation going on in the organization. New buildings being built, great specialist. Self schedule for shifts.

    Cons

Management not connected with staff, high staff turn over. Lack of diversity in management. Sometimes unsafe patient to staff ratios.

I worked at Missouri Baptist Medical Center full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Within my department, I was able to learn different areas of registration (labor and delivery, ED, GILab, etc). Registration also offered a lot of OT.

    Cons

Working here was terrible. I lasted so long because it was convenient and I am not a "job hopper". Unfortunately, this department had so much drama and favoritism going on it was unbearable. I had applied for this job several times. I met the qualifications, but within 5 minutes of my application I was denied for the job. It took a family member who worked at MOBAP to mention something and get me an interview. I was hired right away! Worst decision I could have made. I started off PerDiem/As needed. I was promised a raise and permanent position all the time, but the job would always be given to someone else who kissed their behinds. There was NO training and NO confidentiality among supervisors/leads/employees. After 3 years of working there with no write ups or anything I came to work and could not log into my computer. Contacted IT and found out I was terminated with no reason. The HR department and my supervisor have yet to inform me of this.

I have been working at Missouri Baptist Medical Center full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Employees get along very well, and its a generally good place to work.

    Cons

Seems like radiology has a lot of issues with staffing. More work and not enough people to do it. Also not too much opportunity to advance or change in your career. They wont cross train anyone

I have been working at Missouri Baptist Medical Center full-time

    Pros

Big Picture Outlook; BJC/MoBap have a mission and goals and they are communicated regularly
Good facilities, clean environment, supplies on hand
    Good initial training

    Cons

Negative culture within many nurses especially senior nurses
Too many/too often policy changes with poor explanation
Odd management styles, biased communication, poor visibility, sense of favorites
Significant red tape/unfairness regarding HR type issues such as: shifts (day/night), vacation, pay, cancels, etc

    Advice to Management

Actually do something about the culture change that is recognized as needed. Better prioritization/communication of new roll outs in education and policy. Higher wages to nurses to be more competitive with market and even other BJC hospitals. Be more fair with regards to handling employee issues and less favorites
