I worked at Missouri State University part-time

    Pros

I was able to work at the front desk and do my homework at the same time.

    Cons

My request for time off during winter break were ignored completely.

    Advice to Management

Don't schedule people to work the same 4am shift every single week. Everyone is a student and needs their rest

I have been working at Missouri State University full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Nice people, decent weather, administration turnover is a problem but when it is stable it is nice

    Cons

Salaries are low, the buildings are in disrepair, some support is inadequate, it has potential

    Advice to Management

Get those buildings in shape and start taking care of your employees when they are at work. It's cramped and crowded and dirty and moldy

I have been working at Missouri State University full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Health insurance is great. Vacation time and extra days off are exceptional.

    Cons

Pay is below average for Springfield. Management is quite political.

    Advice to Management

You should appreciate the employees you have and treat people fairly.

I have been working at Missouri State University full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    benefit package good, free tuition

    Cons

No merit raises unless you are top tier. Very political and faculty acts like a bunch of mean spoiled brats.
Depends on who you are on what you can get away with. Once you reach a certain level you can discriminate and sexually harass without any punishment.

I worked at Missouri State University full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Well-meaning administration, good benefits, economical housing.

    Cons

Culturally and intellectually, Springfield is something of a backwater. (Try reading the local paper and watching the local news for a week.) I and many other faculty became increasingly frustrated with student apathy and limited learning over the last 10 years, but concerns along these lines expressed to the administration fell on deaf ears. As long as enrollments are high, the administration sees no reason to strive to transform the academic culture.

    Advice to Management

    See "Cons."

I worked at Missouri State University full-time

    Pros

The university increased the salaries of their support staff across the board in 2014. Much of the administrative processes were converting to digital during my time there. Excellent training provided.

    Cons

The ERP system (Banner by Ellucian) can be frustrating. Some of the staff lacked a big-picture perspective and would see other departments as adversarial.

    Advice to Management

Require department heads to use a smartphone.
