    I worked at Mitchell 1 full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    I made a TON of money before they started continually changing the compensation plan. Make your own hours and it isn't difficult to sell.

    Cons

    Beginning in 2010 management began chipping away at the compensation plan. Increasing quotas while decreasing payout for achieving those quotas. The people I know that still work there tell me that the practice continues today.

    Advice to Management

    Read a book on basic human nature. People will do what you reward them for doing and stop doing what they are punished for doing.

    Pros

    Excellent products, good income potential, independence

    Cons

    Wall between management and reps. No benefits. Company overstates income potential, and changes commission plan annually. Company sells you increasing annual compensation by building base of renewals, but has reduced commissions paid on renewals for the last three years.

    Advice to Management

    Hold Regional Sales Manager responsible. My Sales Manager constantly ranked near bottom of sales to quota, but got by by blaming reps. In two years, we had 50% turnover of reps with no increase in territory sales. In the two year period, Sales Manager never visited my territories. But he was slick at smoozing coporate management.
