I worked at Mitchell International (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Used to be a good company to work for but not any more.

    Cons

Used to be very nice company to work for but in the last 5 years management changed, they started laying off people that worked for a long time and replace them with younger people. And also out sourced a lot of the departments to India.

    Pros

Coworkers were a nice group of professionals to work with.

    Cons

Frequent and constant layoffs. It's sad to see my teammates pushed out after dedicating so many years to the company.
    No upward mobility as well.

    Advice to Management

It may be too late to benefit from any advice at this point.

I worked at Mitchell International (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Overall, it's a good company to work for. There isn't a lot of turnover. The culture is diverse and there are a lot of talented people working here.

    Cons

New products are slow to hit the market. Pay is below average for a software company. Politics, with people being promoted who clearly should not be.

    Advice to Management

Take some time to get to know your employees. Make them feel like they are part of something instead of just lip service of about how great we are.

I have been working at Mitchell International full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great hours. Smiles everywhere. Cafe! Free morning fruit. Casual wear on Fridays. Secure building. Great IT staff. Coffee bars all over the building.

    Cons

Not LGBT friendly. MRA makes $18 an hour and they call it a cap! Thats not what i was told in my interview when I asked specifically about that. They frown if you are sick! You ask them if they need a note, the reply "no, not yet". Time cards are adjusted without consulting you first.

    Advice to Management

Don't single out people! Don't have favorites and take them out to drink after hours when everyone talks about it the next day. Give raises where they are due and employees earn it. We're in 2016 whow cares if you don't like your employees lifestyle...oh wait you do.

I worked at Mitchell International full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good work-life balance if you enjoy coming and going as you please.

    Cons

There to start? CEO sends mixed messages.lost a big client and first stated it was nothing to worry about then later froze raises and started cutting costs dramatically. No accountability for employees. SR devs are only SR because of time in service, not skill set. HR employee leaked personal information and now we all had to file credit protection and irs / tax fraud alerts.

    Advice to Management

Share something other than numbers during CEO/CTO staff meetings. Give some direction about where company is headed and how it's going to get there. Technology stack is subpar, should give teams a chance to rebuild rather than keep pushing shotty products. Also, vp's and above should not be giving developers technical direction; just state the problem and allow the architects and developers to solve the problems.

I have been working at Mitchell International full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great company for those entering the professional workforce
True ownership of products/projects - you get what you put in
Executive leaders are engaged, relatively transparent and approachable
    Solid talent, friendly peers

    Cons

Professional growth has a tendency to plateau early
Despite heavy rhetoric to improving quality and fostering innovation, the results aren't being realized
    Politically charged atmosphere
Compensation appears less competitive when compared to similar positions in the area

    Advice to Management

Mitchell is a company that plays to win, and that's a good thing. Part of a winning strategy is empathizing with customers and meeting their needs, but ensure that doing so doesn't lead to shortcuts or compromises that make it harder to compete down the road

It's undeniable that the company is investing a significant amount of time, money and resources to improve the quality of the services and products. Continue to challenge your leaders by setting clearly defined OKRs and benchmarks to demonstrate incremental improvements
