I have been working at Mitchell International full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

A lot of great and talented people to work with. Large company with plenty of room to grow. Beautiful easily accessible building. Good company culture, allowing flexible hours, health incentives,...

    Cons

Upper management is completely disconnected from what happens under them. Business decisions seem to be made without the employers (and sometimes even without the clients) in mind. Lower than average wages.

    Advice to Management

    Listen to your employees.

I have been working at Mitchell International full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

There are many positives working with Mitchell. They have a proven track record to grow employees that work hard. I have been with the company in various positions in the past 11 years. I've grown with this organization, and I know many others that have as well. This does not mean there are no new opportunities, they hire many people from outside as well.

My management was extremely supportive when I went back to complete my education, and Mitchell actually helped pay for some of it. This is a great place to work.

    Cons

The cafeteria food is too overpriced for the quality...

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good work!

I have been working at Mitchell International as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

This was my third internship in college, and at the end of it I can wholeheartedly say this program was the best I've experienced. We were exposed to all layers of the business (meetings with executives, product demos, and the overall culture). I was given meaningful work in my respective field, and the projects I worked on are going to have an impact on the company as well as my development. A few other highlights: office is closer than Sorrento Valley, awesome cafeteria, and a memorable company culture. Also, they got us a ticket to a Padre's game that included free beer so I was happy.

    Cons

This isn't a serious knock because this intern program was stellar, but I think Mitchell could be a better-managed company in regards to how they use, and then track the use of, their resources. The big data possibilities are out there, just gotta utilize them.

    Advice to Management

Great job, thank you for clearly caring about the intern program. It showed. The one thing I'd say you could do to take it to the next step would be to have a clearly articulated onboarding process and several projects prepared for the intern to work on when they start.

    Pros

Some very talented individuals for co-workers who I enjoy working with and learning from on a daily basis.

    Cons

Some segments of the company are very slow to accept today's proven technologies.

    Advice to Management

With regards to senior management, out with the stale – in with the fresh. Innovative ideas wanted.

I have been working at Mitchell International full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Mitchell stays up to date on their web-stack, going as far as development builds for libraries when needed. Everyone strives to make the best possible code. You frequently hear people asking why things are they way they are and finding problems is praised. The work-life balance is fantastic, because there are no looming deadlines employees can get quality work done instead of rushing out buggy code.

    Cons

When starting it took me nearly a week to get a computer and get it set up with all the permissions.

Uses TFS instead of git. Not really a con, just am not used to TFS.

The build process is up, but could use some maturing.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you are doing because it works well.

I worked at Mitchell International full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

A few bright people to work with, decent pay and benefits, nice facility.

    Cons

Complete train wreck in APD division. Upper management incompetent and arrogant beyond belief. Once a thriving department now completely destroyed due to mismanagement. Lost every battle in the marketplace. Some good concepts but nothing executed.

    Advice to Management

Remove current management staff and start over. Seriously. That or sell out. It's over.
