    Negative Outlook

I worked at Mitchell Madison Group full-time

    Pros

Immediate international C-level exposure and brilliant colleagues in the US and Europe. Unrivaled alumni network and diversified leadership in years past when it wasn't so concentrated in the hands of the CEO. Offshore analytics and graphics support is good enough for most projects.

    Cons

As a lower level employee who observed the CEO speaking greater than 50 percent of the time in unprofessional, misogynist ways with racially insensitive overtones, I had no one to complain to since HR is completely outsourced (they don't tell you that when they hire you), and the CEO controls all aspects of it so work here at your peril since he will not hesitate to create conflict.

During internal team meetings the CEO sets unrealistic deadlines and makes promises to clients that require you to work around the clock while he is indifferent to your weekend plans (with inappropriate vulgarity toward us) and forces the team to compete internally under high stress conditions created solely by him, as opposed to real client demands.

I observed the CEO terminate employees for no real reason except he didn't like that they didn't laugh at a racially insensitive joke or they publicly disagreed with him about lying to a client just to get the work.

No forum for reporting CEO's ethical violations or unprofessional conduct. The CEO's spouse is also part of leadership.

    Advice to Management

Stop misrepresenting capabilities to clients and diversify leadership instead of building a culture mirroring yourself, your idea of what success looks like in a person physically, and your own bad personal and professional traits. We used to have excellent VPs that tempered your personality and were capable of leading a team with more civility.

    Pros

Consultants are given a high level of responsibility at every stage, great camaraderie among peer group, generous paid time off policy

    Cons

Poor work - life balance, over-promising on projects leading to unnecessary sense of urgency, boutique firm with very specific & limited industry focus

    Pros

great people, great progression opportunities, cool clients. Really good international assignments. Very high proportion of business analysts went on to good business schools.

    Cons

Firm went bust! New firm seems to be going OK.

    Advice to Management

Make better judgments. The marchFIRST experience was a real eye-opener. They had been sleeping for too long.
