    Pros

Vegas is nearby and the outside wilderness around can be a good break from the incivility of the place.

    Cons

Terrible management, if you have a brain and have ideas you will not last long. You will either quit or get canned because only sycophants of the corrupt President can flourish here. The town is filled with conspiracy theorists, gun toting morons, and tweakers, these are your students and they make up the rubber stamp board. The management is mean spirited and corrupt. Prisoners are used as slave labor to make up for the lack of a budget to hire a legitimate maintenance team. People of quality are often hired and rarely stay, as they are micromanaged until their enthusiasm is destroyed. The losers stay because this is making it to them, and the managment likes it that way.

    Advice to Management

You have hired some decent people and have driven them out with your horrible micromanagement, please learn from your mistakes.

    Pros

I have taught for several universities and this is above most when it comes to assisting faculty. While the leadership has changed several times over the years, it always seems to be for the better.

    Cons

Occasionally it take a day or two to get an solid answer to questions.

I worked at Mohave Community College full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

As a former employee I got to meet some great people over my 10 yrs at MCC.I wish them the best.

    Cons

Facility Maintenance Management (CURRENT) is horrible. They will throw you under the bus so quick it will make your head spin.Very unprofessional backstabbing not a good atmosphere to work at.Management holds grudges and they will fire you at a drop of a hat.The worst management I ever have seen.

    Advice to Management

you should look into who you hire and the toxic environment that Facility Maintenance Management creates.

I worked at Mohave Community College part-time

    Pros

This was a great working environment. Very strong management support to get whatever you need to make the teaching experience a better experience for students.

    Cons

Low pay for high hours. They don't seem to take account the preparation time required to get ready for classes.

    Advice to Management

Try to keep adjunct faculty in the same classes rather than switching every semester to minimize the required preparation time.

I have been working at Mohave Community College part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

There once were some good people in my department: helpful, dedicated people. Then, one by one, they seemed to disappear. The students are a good mix of young, college-aged, and mature, which makes for a fun learning environment when they are all engaged. The IT and tech folks have always been wonderful to work with.

    Cons

When good middle-managers (Dept. Heads, Directors, etc) disappeared, some of their replacements seemed well-meaning, but frazzled. Others behaved like spoiled children. Some reviews here point to the very top as the source of the issues. I don't know.

    Advice to Management

Someone needs to figure out where the major organizational failures are happening and develop a vision to fix that. If it's at the very top, mid-level folks need to use union power to make changes. It's sad that so many good people seem to get chewed up and spit out at MCC.

    Negative Outlook

I worked at Mohave Community College full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Some dedicated faculty and staff who stay in spite of the abuse.
Small class size --mainly due to low enrollment
    Campus is well maintained

    Cons

President, Dean of Instruction, need to go--they are the source of the toxic workplace.
Constant changing rules coupled with a level of micromanagement that borders on the absurd
Firing and resignations of very qualified and hard working people
No room for dissent, the President sees himself as a master of all surrounded by idiots who need to be put in their place.
Low salaries and a terrible town in decline.

    Advice to Management

Please resign especially the President and his cadre of tyrants, this town needs a viable Community College and you are destroying it from within. Let people do their jobs, quit making up arbitrary rules.
