  1. "Great Company, local management is horrible"

I have been working at Mohawk Industries full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Company will spend money to keep with OSHA standards, and since it is an international community you get to work with a diverse crowd of people.

    Cons

Local management only cares about their bottom line. Nobody at the plant trusts the local plant manager and it is completely obvious.

    Advice to Management

Some of you are out of your depth, others don't lie to your workers.

    Pros

Really big company so good benefits and extra discounts. Great discount on company products if you are buying flooring.

    Cons

No accountability of senior management. They do whatever they want and are not held accountable. They only care about themselves and not their employees, even thought they pretend they care.

    Advice to Management

Get out on the floor with your employees and find out the truth, don't just say hi and think you are spending quality time on the floor. Your managers only tell you what you want to hear.

I have been working at Mohawk Industries full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great management from CEO to Presidents to all levels of associates. The President, Brian Carson, and the CEO, Jeff, are very open and actively seek input from employees at all levels. They make an effort to tell people why they are doing what they are doing in a very timely manner. They understand that employees are doing the work to make the company even more successful. Anyone can have an impact if they choose to do so. People with ambition and who want development need to raise their hands if they want to move ahead, as it should be. The company does very well at compensating and rewarding people for a job well done. Not a ton of kudos, but the ability to have an impact is tremendous and people who work there control their own destiny. Those who don't move ahead either don't want to or don't do the things necessary to be recognized as a contender for bigger roles.

    Cons

Work life balance could be better if vacation policies were improved. The ability to attract and retain great people may be impacted by this as the job market continues to tighten.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you're doing and continue to grow the business and make it even more profitable so that we can continue to provide jobs and opportunities for new and existing talent. You might give more frequent kudos, attaboys, etc. to remind people you appreciate them.

    Pros

Cannot think of any. Hard worker/fast learner. Completely denied tuition reimbursement. Refused promotions, even though I have gained a B.S. degree.

    Cons

Have more experience, education, and seniority than those promoted over me. Only like being a church buddy or family member/friend to get the promotion.

    Advice to Management

No advice. The would not listen anyway.

I have been working at Mohawk Industries full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

People at middle management and below are great. It is a great place to work if you want to make long time friends. Very relaxed atmosphere most of the time.

    Cons

Upper Management throw their people under the bus and do not take ownership for their failures. They do not listen to what needs to be done to get the job done right the first time and then get angry for issues.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees. Stop telling them to do more with less when the company is doing so well. When you have a resource problem, cutting resources is never going to be the answer.
