    Positive Outlook

I worked at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The pay was good and the benefits were comprehensive. Like most jobs, especially with larger companies, you can get bogged down in corporate-speak platitudes, but they mean well and that's standard in the US. Also like most jobs, management and your peers will make or break your experience, I found the management to be great. Fun, caring people all around. There are frequent career advancement opportunities. Dealer schools are typically offered twice a year and are paid for by Mohegan. Very generous of them and the endorsements are yours to take with you. If the openings exist, the company opens the door wide for advancement into management and supervisory positions, though they can be competitive and typically require a move to swing shift if on grave or days. Lastly, the company offers high mobility. If you don't like one position, you're welcome to put in for a transfer to any other position in any other department at no risk to your current position. You'll receive preference over external applicants, though it's important to note that you may be stuck for many months if staff is short. This is most common with those working security due to stringent staffing requirements put in place by the PGCB. Great place to work.

    Cons

It's a casino, so you're going to have to accept unconventional hours. The wait for dayshift can last years. Vacation time can be very difficult to get, whether you have the PTO hours or not. While rarely extreme or hard to deal with, there are a lot of arbitrary rules and they change frequently. It's important to pay attention to that.

    Disapproves of CEO

I worked at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs part-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

They feed you ,but it was five years of the same thing ..over and over. A few and I mean few, really good , fair managers . Some where a gem and i was happy to be in their pit and know that they had my back.

    Cons

From the department manager to the pit bosses it's literally a crap shoot! The dept. manager could not make eye contact or speak to you or listen without looking away and seeming like he could care less. The pit bosses were either great or awful. the floor supervisors were the same . Some had you feeling that you were all playing on the same team and some made you feel like you should have never been picked for the team at all.It was difficult to watch all the non sense and so many of them are trying to hook up with other dealers. It was truly the land of misfit and mis -moral toys!
