    Pros

Coworkers are fun, vision of the company is admirable, and the overall focus in general should make a difference in the community.

    Cons

The culture is incredibly uneven depending on the department, the nepotism is almost unbearable, and the opportunities for growth are limited.

    Advice to Management

Be more respectful to the people on your teams. Individuals grow and contribute in different ways, so don't continually focus on things like degrees when many of those with advanced educations are the worst producers and know the business the least. Go visit with your teams. Come out of the ivory tower and see your people, it means more than you think.

    Pros

The location in New Mexico is downtown and it is beautiful there with many restaurants in the area and nice walking areas.

    Cons

supervisors are required to walk around and look over your shoulder for about 40% of your workday; company management is not transparent about what is driving administrative changes,; company does not manage their staff well and the work environment is not friendly frequently, Employees complain often but do not take to any management levels for fear of retaliation. This is Molina Healthcare of New Mexico, where my experience happened.

    Advice to Management

Allow supervisors to have some authority and flexibility in their discretions; as it was, supervisors were afraid of what management would do to them if they made any decisions on their own. Also, have a written handbook for reference for supervisors and an orientation for it to help supervisors to support their assigned staff members work needs.

    Pros

An OK place to work if you are happy in a highly structured environment, where your job is defined by established processes and procedures.

    Cons

If you are responsible for establishing change in the organization, you will likely find the culture to be challenging and non-supportive.

    Advice to Management

New ideas with which you are unfamiliar can be difficult. Trust your Subject Matter Experts to lend their expertise and guidance, and the right decisions will reveal themselves. Listen without prejudice to get the best from your people. Give respect to employees, and you will receive it in return -- handing out cookies to employees is not an indication of management respect.

I have been working at Molina Healthcare full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Molina has lots of opportunities to expand and grow. Molina is always growing and expanding nationally. The company was founded on the principals of helping those in need.

    Cons

Unfortunately, it is usually about who you know and senior leadership makes plans for employees that do not always correlate with the employees career goals. Senior leadership will stop promotions or transfers to other departments if you are really needed where you are, however, if you become a "problem" they will help you get promoted out of a team. Very counter intuitive.
Sometimes management that is hired from another company will begin filing ALL of their positions with former employees of the company they came from, regardless of qualified Molina applicants.

    Advice to Management

Personal feelings of favoritism or prejudice need to be left at home. Build a management staff that has shown they can rise above this, it starts with the Plan President.
Promoting from within should be a priority.

    Pros

Great benefits and opportunities for growth for those who are in the "in crowd", even with no prior experience

    Cons

Huge turnover due to management and favoritism, lack of skills and training and some employees are targeted. No consistency in policy application. Top heavy

    Advice to Management

Treat everyone equally and with respect

    Pros

Fair pay, opportunity to work remotely, some very nice coworkers, good benefits

    Cons

They will work you to death if you let them, ignore your pleas for another staff to split your case load and keep giving you more members to manage than you can handle.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your remote staff in frontier counties when they tell you they can't effectively case manage more than 50 members.

I worked at Molina Healthcare full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Molina salaries are competitive in the New Mexico market.

    Cons

Molina does a good job with talent acquisition but then they micro-manage and mismanage their employees.

    Advice to Management

Molina needs to provide more direct oversight of the senior management that they put in place in each of their sites/plans. Senior management in any state can ruin the reputation that Molina has built as a Fortune 500 Company.
