    Pros

Professional, caring environment in which to work. Small Town environment creates a more personable workplace, without multiple layers of bureaucracy.

    Cons

There are always challenges in a small town environment in terms of making ends meet, as well as recruitment and retention of staff.

    Advice to Management

Keep your eye on the future while assuring operational excellence in all you do. Listen to your employees because they love their workplace and care deeply about its success.

I worked at Monadnock Community Hospital full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Employees of M.C.H who sacrifice their sick time and vacation time (officially called Earned Time at M.C.H.), in order to keep a small community hospital running.

    Cons

Many, many years of mismanagement and a lack of transparency left M.CH. financially on the brink of collapse. Even with a new CEO in the last couple of years things are not better. The new CEO should have started cleaning up the situation by removing under - qualified and under - educated department management. Sadly, "saving" money by maintaining under - qualified personnel to manage medical departments doesn't work in the long run. There was a massive computer system failure during an apparent systems upgrade that essentially shut the hospital down for a week (you should google this if you are considering employment at M.C.H). Followed by lay offs. And for years employees were forced to work far less hours than they were hired for when hospital business was "slow". Thus, employees were forced to take the sick/ vacation time a.k.a earned time if they wanted to have a pay check! The health insurance available to employees in terrible. The retirement plan is meager at best. Some of the Administration are totally inappropriate in their conduct. Now Catholic Medical Center is taking over the management of M.CH. Many good employees have left M.C.H after years of feeling under appreciated.

    Cons

Board of Directors unsure of direction agency ought to go, most Board members unclear of work being done or who did the work.

    Advice to Management

no advice to management, their lack of concern for clients evidenced by how they eviscerated the agency

I have been working at Monadnock Community Hospital part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good Benefit Package with with ample PTO. The Bond Wellness Center is a huge plus and convenient for employees. Most co-workers are genuinely nice people.

    Cons

Considerably lower wages than what the market suggests. It seems that salaried employees are better cared for than hourly employees. High number of layoffs in recent years. Hire from within culture was much more prevalent 2-3 years ago. Few, if any attempts seem to be made to retain long-term, valuable employees.

    Advice to Management

Don't forget.... Your employees and their families are also your patients.
