I worked at Mondi Group (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good salary for no college degree for a woman,
Good benefits for insurance and EAP
Close to home with little travel

    Cons

    Mondi's style of management
Foreigners that do not know US business practices
Promote employees that suck up or are a "yes" man.

    Advice to Management

Promote employees that deserve it, not who just suckered up. Seems like loyalty means nothing . They gave way to much power to someone that was power hungry and it was detrimental to the company and employee morale. And now she's gonever and new HR has the same practices. The turnover rate shot up higher when Mondial took over then I had seen my whole career in paper.

I worked at Mondi Group full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The managers and coworkers are good at the plant level.
They have good health care, dental and vision insurance.
The pay is decent and the hours are great.

    Cons

The upper management has poor communication and decision making skills.
The machines are older than the other plants but operators still perform well.

    Advice to Management

Communication must be clear down to the plant level for direction on path forward.

    Pros

Good benefits, very understanding HR and most managers. Good environment as long as you don't rock the boat.

    Cons

European methods do not mesh well with US. Too much emphasis on production numbers but not quality.

    Advice to Management

Don't be afraid of change. Watch the film " WHO MOVED THE CHEESE"

    Pros

The employees are good to work with

    Cons

Long hours and you work 10 days straight with four days off. your first 2 years in the company you only get 1 week of vacation and this includes sick time and any personal time. The management treat you like you have no opinion and they are really a company you work for until you find something better. This company has HUGE turn over in employees. The quality department is a joke!!!!! The production department is even worse. RUN RUN RUN!!!!!

    Advice to Management

Become more involved in your people and understand their work

    Pros

Employees great to work with i guess

    Cons

Management doesn't care about their employers anymore. New employees quickly see that they're not wanted by management and many people are leaving the company. High turnover rate, never heard of before, dont know how its still up.

    Advice to Management

Dont know why the corporation is still spending money to try to keep this place afloat.

I worked at Mondi Group full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    - learn alot about electricity, electric components, mechanical skills
    - GREAT people, small team, almost a family atmosphere
    - working here will make you learn alot if youre a beginner like me but if youre experienced in those things you wil play an actual role in progressing the company which is STRONGLY encouraged. great work environment
-coworkers are extremely knowledgeable in their subject of expertise, you cant help but learn everyday
-fairly flexible with taking days off
    -great benefits
    -company phone/laptop

    Cons

    - Long hours. 12 hour days, sometimes on weekends (not at all rarely and you wont know if youre working that weekend until late in the same week. (to be fair, you can leave after 8 hours but you tend to feel guilty and its not guaranteed). be willing to be at work ALOT
    - not entirely truthful with the scope of work i was doing. (this is my personal experience and wont necessarily be yours) i am a fairly experienced computer network technician and was looking to do more of that at this job. they were in the process of setting up a network to see how the machine is running to gather more information. i was told i would have a role in that. i was given small jobs to learn the equipment (PLC's if youre familiar, i wasnt) and when i got these opportunities i ran with it. brought home the equipment to learn more and really tried, and succeeded to some degree, to learn how it worked. My progress, i can only assume, went largely unnoticed or was neglected and i found my self less and less involved. I was told i would be a master electrician and a HVAC expert, which to some is a great opportunity but i already have/had a career path and, in my view, was not what i was hired for. for the record, there is a ''team'' atmosphere, when something happens to the machine everyone drops what theyre doing and works son it together. but i eventually found myself cleaning fans and motors all day for weeks at a time. I made my mistakes there, i cost them alot of money by neglecting to plug in 4 fans due to pure oversight and i have always been apologetic for that. But the fact is they told me in my interview that i would have a role to play in setting up their diagnostic network and that never materialized. During my interview they showed me the server room (which i never went in again), further advancing my expectation of having a real role in using my skills to advance their network.

    Advice to Management

I wish you had been more truthful with me in what my role would be and how my skills would be utilized because if you had id have never taken the job. It is a GREAT place to work, i will miss everybody but it was just never a good fit for me. i was disgruntled the last couple of months i worked there because i started to realize that it just wasnt what you said it would be. I would recommend this job to others but i cant help but have a pang of disappointment that my career was essentially at a standstill during my time there. This may not and, in all probability wont, be your next candidates experience but i feel that others should be aware of my experience.
