I worked at Monro Auto Service and Tire Centers full-time for more than 20 years

    Pros

Worked for Monro over a decade. I ALWAYS felt appreciated. If you like to "run it like you own it", You'll enjoy it. They compensate well, and, in the Buffalo area, you could not ask for a better District Manager. Daryl Chesely always keeps his focus on the company goals and needs, but NEVER looses focus that employees are people. Manage your business, you'll do fine. I recommend Monro to anyone who likes to work....

    Cons

2 cons for managers: FIRST; in this industry, sometimes your "short-staffed", though to Monro's credit, they allow you to hire the necessary help. SECOND; as a manager sometimes I got my hands dirty

    Advice to Management

Keep going, wish you the best!

    Pros

    401k is better than most

    Cons

I work 70 hrs every week, 6 days open to close. Old buildings old equipment, no upgrades, high prices very low pay and extremely high sales demands, calling declined services from previous week and beg them to come back. No support from upper management

    Advice to Management

Stop focusing on share prices and acquisitions. Invest in what you have already and help stores make customers want to come back

I worked at Monro Auto Service and Tire Centers full-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

The other techs working are usually cool guys. They all feel the same struggle that you feel. The only good thing this place is for is a last choice, or worst comes to worst type of job. If you have no other option, and need a place to make an income (barely even an income) then its good till you get back on your feet.

    Cons

Managment is laughable. Company is run by people that don't know the difference from a lug nut to a tire. The only thing that matters is making money, weather you screw over that innocent old lady by selling her something she doesn't need, or outright selling what ever you can, if you arnt making them money, you arnt worth anything. The pay is $10 an hour OR 11% commission which ever is higher. Dont let them fool you...

    Advice to Management

Learn that the best way to make money, is investing in your company. And by company i mean your techs. You pay a tech $10, you get $10 work. Plain in simple. Change your pay scale, get rid of the commission, and pay your techs like they are people. You would be surprised how well your company would do if the techs actually have the money to buy new tools. More pay to techs = more money for them to invest = more tools...

    Pros

They have so much turn over that your job stays secure!

    Cons

CEO and COO changed pay to keep more profit and not pay us! They say the new bonus plan is paying more out but even on a winning month the pay is less on the P&L. We are not fooled! Your lack of care shows all the way to short staffing the stores. Your “depth chart” sucks! It makes people quit! Your benefits also show you lack of care too! They cost more than any other in the automotive industry! Your Monro Foward...

    Pros

Monro has been nothing but supportive since I have been brought on. In my short time here the amount of positive change has been extraordinary. The senior leadership team is working hard to move Monro.Forward and is taking the appropriate steps to better our stores and the workplace culture as a whole. As many of us know, the automotive industry has not always been known for being the most hospitable. CEO Brett Ponton...

    Advice to Management

More feedback, especially when it’s positive. A lot of people have been here a long time and the ones that are working hard deserve to be told what a great job they are doing.
