I worked at Monsanto Company full-time

    Pros

Amazing company to work for, they take great care of their employees and ensure development with the ultimate goal of career advancement within the company. They really invest in their employees. Management is super friendly and supportive. Would definitely work their again!

    Cons

Nothing negative to report for this employer.

    Advice to Management

Don't go the route daily teleworking like some companies are doing, face time IRL is important. Having the ability to telework a few times a week is great more than that hurts team cohesion.

I have been working at Monsanto Company as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

Great stepping stone for new and upcoming graduates from college.

    Cons

After a while, work becomes repetitive and your work is rarely rewarded.

    Advice to Management

The quality of your product goes down when the employees/contractors feel inadequate and underappreciated. Show you appreciate what they are doing for the company.

I have been working at Monsanto Company full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

People are genuinely caring and helpful. Generous vacation policy if you stay with the company for more than a year. Jumping between teams is encouraged.

    Cons

The company has been acquired by Bayer and is also going through a layoff spree (that started before the acquisition). There is a LOT of uncertainty about what would happen later next year. A big internal re-org this year meant all business analysts were turned into either product specialists or software developers (even if they did not having too much experience with core development work). This has affected employee morale badly.

    Advice to Management

Consider taking the help of the employees before deciding on shoving down a senseless re-org down everyone throats especially to teams where it doesn't even make sense.

I have been working at Monsanto Company as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Amazing colleagues with lots of experience who are still willing to explain things to less-senior people. Chance to work with a wide variety of people.

    Cons

Worries about buyout make people nervous about future employment prospects. Overtime must be pre-approved. Tricky to get software access when onboarding.

    Advice to Management

Be more generous in offering direct employee positions. There are many contractors who would love to work directly for the company and who would make loyal employees.

I worked at Monsanto Company (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Work life balance is great! If you are able to find the right team and manger, your commitment to family first is supported.

    Cons

No real sincerity or care for the employees professional development and growth. Times are changing. It is not what it used to be.

    Advice to Management

Take into account just how reorgs and layoffs affect people. Reward employees and give them opportunities for growth and advancement. It makes no sense to keep people at the same level for years and make up excuses as to why you aren't able to help them find promotional opportunities.
