I have been working at Monsanto Company full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Wonderful benefits, amazing vision to feed the world, cutting edge technology and innovation, dedication to conservation and donating to charitable causes, career learning experiences, great people, travel, development opportunities, work/life balance (unless you're under-resourced), on-site daycare in St. Louis, diverse teams (unless you work in US Row Crops)

    Cons

IT systems, political environment, matrixed hierarchy, workload fatigue, lack of communication between functions/teams/organizations, process improvement needed everywhere, only a select few are "the chosen ones" and it's usually because they're good at spending money with agencies/delegating/sucking up, hard/difficult work can be recognized more often

    Advice to Management

Fix IT. Resource teams appropriately. Recognize over-achievers.

I have been working at Monsanto Company full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Work Life Balance and the diversity of Monsanto is what makes it a great place to work. Also they promote innovation from all levels and recognize talent regardless of what position or level you hold

    Cons

Sometimes the amount of work is a bit much for the resources we have. We operate extremely lean teams that have less than half of the staffing level that other comparable enterprise level companies have.

    Advice to Management

My one piece of advice to management would be to understand better the current market rates for certain roles and ensure than compensation is adequate for retention of your highest contributors.

I have been working at Monsanto Company full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Direct quote from me to a friend who recently applied for (and was hired) for a data scientist job: "I absolutely love it here. Smart people, great work, fantastically progressive and supportive culture."

    Cons

Currently in the process of being purchased by Bayer, which has bred some uncertainty and is distracting for jobs which focus on strategy and long-term strategy.

    Advice to Management

Keep providing transparency and timely updates to employees about changes associated with the acquisition. Counter employee anxiety over uncertainty with increased bonuses and PTO.

I worked at Monsanto Company as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

My boss at the time (a supply Chain lead) was patient & kind.

    Cons

Refused to give me a position full time with benefits at the St. Louis campus. As an admin, they had a lot of admins, thus a large turnover rate.
