    Pros

I enjoyed working at Monsanto, leadership actually cares about the well being of their employees...hence the week of paid time off in December to spend time with your family.

    Great Benefits

Monsanto has some of the most top notch employees I have worked with.

There are a lot of opportunities to get involved and work with others throughout the company and management is very supportive of this.

    Great Bonus structure and payout

    Flexibility

    Cons

Monsanto is very much a company where you have to know the right people to move up.

I watched people that I trained be promoted over me.

The company is going through a lot of organizational changes and it can be a stressful environment with the uncertainty of your career.

The pay is decent but not the best

If you're looking for opportunities to advance it can be a real challenge.

    Advice to Management

Recognize the people that do the work and get the job done. There are so many talented individuals, but the same people keep getting promoted and are afforded the opportunity to move up within the company. Pay attention to the L180 Reviews of the managers because there are some individuals in leadership positions that should not be there.

    Pros

    Pay, benefits
    Most colleagues are great.

    Cons

Mgmt team looks out for their own and does not put best interest of company first.
    HR is not trustworthy.
Shifted from a horizontal leadership model to vertical/top down hierarchy.
Massive labor cuts lead to too many manager layer with too few people resources actually doing the work.

I worked at Monsanto Company full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great pay, kind co-workers and incredible safety.

    Cons

Management is shady, biased and one sided.

    Advice to Management

Less safety and more care for employees. Excessive Safety is used by Monsanto to cover Monsanto's name as well as management. They argue it is for the employees benefit, but that's just white lies they say to maintain power and control over employees. This is done by creating bogus and unfair rules that end up restricting employees more than helping them. Ex. skipping stairs and walking through garage doors is NOT allowed.

    Advice to Management

Address all of the above cons.

I worked at Monsanto Company full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Absolutely wonderful working with so many brilliant and friendly scientists. The honest, hard-working people here almost make up for those who are not.

    Cons

I didn't want to post earlier for fear it would be too specific, but after seeing other posts that are similar, I'm starting to feel as though this is less of an isolated incident and is therefore important to share.

I was harassed at work and asked to fake data by my supervisor. When I reported it to HR they told me they would not be doing anything because he "is a seasoned employee" and "you don't have proof anyways" (because all incidents were verbal and I was told I should've recorded him if I wanted anything done). Shortly after this report, I was told I needed to work exclusively at a remote facility, thus preventing me from giving the presentation I had been scheduled to give and cutting off my access to networking. My job duties were almost completely changed and my position was terminated a couple months later. This type of behavior from HR and staff changed my perspective from someone who dreamed of working for Monsanto, to someone that realizes they use intimidation and underhanded tactics to stifle criticism. Amazing how a few people can soil the work of so many extraordinary scientists.

    Advice to Management

Realize that HR reports are not just for protecting senior employees, they are for protecting ALL employees. I am actually wary of working for this company again after seeing your HR Department in action.

    Advice to Management

Take the Long-view. Don't compromise reputation for operating gains. Build food industry partnerships. Give more people global exposure
