I have been working at Monster Worldwide full-time

    Pros

Good work life balance. On site cafe, Starbucks, underground parking, on site gym

    Cons

Upper management makes decisions but never cascades them down. They do the same thing over & over and avoid (or dont see) the real issues. Do not listen to employees and sales to hear what is really going on.
    No employee development or promotions
    No cross-functional communication

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees, keep it simple and stop trying to change how to sell every 3 months.

    Pros

You do have autonomy in creating a sales plan to help you get over quota but you have to hit the call metrics regardless of your success connecting with Clevel or decision makers thru alternative methods even if that means 50 voicemails a day.

    Cons

Inflexible with remote work from home after they moved their office from the 495 belt to the I95 belt. Average commute times were going up 30-50%.

    Pros

Great technology, They do not hesitate when it comes time to hire a candidate
The possibility to work with teams throuh out the North American Area

    Cons

internal equity is not balanced to the external equity being hired, unfair .
They hire and fire without cause; there is no empathy and have had that reputation for years. It was supose to have changed with the new leadership;t has not

    Advice to Management

Listen to your teams, there is a huge talent poo going unnoticed

I have been working at Monster Worldwide full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great health benefit plan and pay scale. Big global company which is a good thing for some people but policies at corporate level get interpreted by local managers differently as to the intent of the policy so they allow local managers to decide how they want to enforce the policy to their employees which is not always good.

    Cons

Lots of favoritism and people get promoted just because of who they know or who they are kissing up to and NOT based on performance. Good ole boy system at the local level that you can't complain about or risk getting fired. Also, since Randstad purchased Monster there is alot of uncertainty to jobs and who will be laid off and who will stay. Trying to sell under an environment of no direction is really hard and does nothing for employee morale.

    Advice to Management

Hire better local managers that can actually lead people and help influence overall change NOT just the "yes" man type of manager that doesn't want to speak up. Better communication and enforcement of corporate policies all the same across the country and globe would help tremendously. Allow people to apply to other jobs directly through corporate so they are not blocked by their local manager or director unjustly and for no reason. Employees leave Managers NOT companies - keep that in mind with your future plan.

I worked at Monster Worldwide full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

It's a nice cushy job if you're early your career and you're naturally self-motivated. It doesn't take much to climb a few rungs on the corporate ladder so long as you play politics right. Use this place to get your dream job somewhere else in 3 years. Pay can be great (when you negotiate up front - don't expect any kind of raise later). Beautiful facilities. Plenty of vacation time. Most jobs have work from home available.

    Cons

The direction of the company is uncertain - their products have been created in a vacuum without the advice of their customer base or recruitment professionals. Leadership and management at all levels are plagued by lethargy and they communicate poorly with other departments and to their own employees. Culture is nonexistent and morale is poor. Health insurance is expensive with high out-of-pocket deductibles.

    Advice to Management

Just get rid of the executives, already. They don't care any more.

I have been working at Monster Worldwide full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Nice, clean, attractive office space and campus with cafeteria, free gym, and Starbucks. The people are friendly and though the stock is low the company is stable and has made it through bad times. Very good work/life balance.

    Cons

So many departments and communication is lacking between them. Lots of silos, lack of collaboration and cohesive planning across channels.

    Advice to Management

Upper management has been the same for many many years, we need fresh ideas and blood to innovate and not copy. My experience has been that management does not communicate well, and push projects that are poorly thought through.

    Pros

Great money if you are good at your job, independent work style/methods where you don't have management breathing down your back

    Cons

Seems like management team and sales team have no idea what they are doing. The approach they take seems like they are shooting in the dark. You need to figure out and do everything yourself (a con for some, and a pro for others).

No growth once so ever in sales roles after you have reached Internet Recruitment Consultant.

    Advice to Management

Try and learn more about the business and more about sales 101 to help out and lead your teams.

I have been working at Monster Worldwide full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Work life balance, competitive compensation, brand recognition in the market. Product development and R&D investment is a plus. Recent changes in leadership has the potential to drive desired results.

    Cons

Too many changes at once happening that results in operational challenges. Territory assignments change too often lending to fractured customer relationships.

    Advice to Management

Patience with the overall changes to the organization. The change will ultimately be positive, but it will not happen overnight. There are some good people that want to hang in there.
