I worked at Montblanc full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Montblanc sells the best writing instruments, I got to learn a lot about time pieces. Great customers, most of the, very educated business men.

    Cons

Where do I start? One word "horrible" management. Bullies, racists, unprofessional managers, manager stilling sales from associates (it happened to me). Gossips and backstabbing is the normal, calling names, and making fun of someone physical aspect it was something so normal for my manager.
Everybody in my team quit because they were so unhappy. We were always understaff and we had to work more than 40 h a week, without any word of appreciation. The turn over is so high. It was the most unhappy year of my life while I worked at Montblanc. It is sad. It could have been a very nice place to work, but unfortunately I had a very bad manager, and this person is still there, even thought the HR was informed about all this unprofessional behavior.
It is an embarrassment that Richemont, a company with such prestige it employed people like my formal manager.

    Advice to Management

Just let go of the unprofessional managers, and hire some people with high work ethics, and integrity that are professional and you will have less turn over, your business will improve, because people work better when they are happy, and not bullied. Montblanc will have loyal sales associates if you treat them well and with respect, the bullies have to go.

    I worked at Montblanc full-time

    Pros

Not a fashion house so clients tend to be more cultured, most of the time. Company is quite accommodating to employee's relocation request and career advancement. Employees have opportunities to network with other stores and build relationships across the nation.

    Cons

Management competency varies greatly across different stores; turnover rate is extremely high for a lot of stores. Employees' concerns and suggestions regarding store operation are rarely addressed. The benefits promised to employees are often overlooked.

    Advice to Management

Management should be anonymously reviewed by employees with report submitted directly to regional director. Focus on company vision and avoid branching out too fast hence sacrificing the quality of customer service when employees are not well informed.

I worked at Montblanc full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

During my time with Montblanc circa early 2000s, it was a great place to work. Benefits were decent and had pension. They used to have these "goodie bag" deals where you would pay $10-15 and you would get thousands of dollars in merchandise. Once I even got a limited edition. Employee discounts were generous and incentives were great.

    Cons

Over time, budgets became unrealistic, commission structured kept changing and hours got worst. There was no real work-life balance, weekends were a most to work, inventory was a chore, and hours were long. Raises were a joke but I was young at the time, what little did I know?

    Advice to Management

Treat employees with more respect and empower them to show that they could make a difference. There were very little advancement and usually bottle necks when it came to management positions. Outside talent were more desirable to internal, promote from within.
