I have been working at Montefiore Medical full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good benefits, many educational trainings. Montefiore is a company that is deep rooted in the community and its relentless in its efforts to make it better. Their drive to achieve ways to provide quality healthcare pushes them constantly to find ways of improvement not only on medical services but also providing employees with appropriate training to achieve those improvements. Solid company. Good president and VPs that care for the community.

    Cons

Expensive healthcare benefits. Lots of diversity not enough inclusion. Good training not enough recognition.

    Advice to Management

Certainly no one is irreplaceable, but why replace good loyal employees when recognizing them and rewarding them would build a stronger foundation. Diversity is something we have achieved with greatness but inclusion is a road not all are willing to walk. Why let good employees go when we should do what's possible to keep them.

I have been working at Montefiore Medical full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Benefits are good my insurance is covered through 1199 National Benefit Fund.

    Cons

I've worked for Montefiore for 11 years at 3 various locations. I have worked my way up very slowly by transferring to different locations. One thing that many sites have in common is a lack of poor management there is no such thing here as experience and education is all about who you know. Out of the 3 sites there was 1 administrator that was fantastic but unfortunately no room for growth so I was forced to move on.

    Advice to Management

A little appreciation goes a long way. Also, regular training's to show managerial skills should take place in order to show management some class and how to run a department effectively. It would also help if management had more than a GED or high school education.

I worked at Montefiore Medical part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Feeling of serving the community. If you know someone here, it works for you. But that is a con to me.

    Cons

Difficult to become full time. Seems they like to hire a lot of per diem and cycle through them. Employees are very much into your business and are not team players.

I have been working at Montefiore Medical full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great benefits. The salary is decent for a social worker in general. A lot of vacation time. Co-workers are great for the most part. Once here for a year you can apply for different positions within Montefiore and are considered first for the position. Small yearly bonus.

    Cons

Steadily increase of case load with more high needs clinets. High turnover rates. Not enough pay to deal with the increasing amount of work associated with amount of case management needed to stabilize patients lives. Managers and Managed Care Plans have high expectations to get things done very quickly which is not realistic.

    Advice to Management

Please be patient with your staff. The constant changes can be overwhelming. A pay increase or bonus for those who are able to "do it all" and meet monthly goals should be warranted.
